I suggest taking your mother to Chapters to have a look at Kobo Readers and see what she thinks.

According to my own research, if you really want physical buttons the Energy Sistem line is your best bet, especially the slim HD.

Having said that, you (or your mom) might be surprised how easy it is to get used to tapping the screen for page turns. Kobo as mentioned by the other users ticks all your boxes except for page turn buttons. The Aura ONE has direct Overdrive access, but is likely too large. (Did Kobo ever bring that Overdrive access to the H202 or the Aura v2?) I'd recommend taking mom to a store where she can try hands-on with one. |

After a little research: Looks like the T2 is a "snap-apart" device like the earlier Kindles. Batteries cost about $12 and would take about 10-15 minutes to replace. |

I can't speak for the potential condition of a battery in a used device, but in the past year I started using a T3 that I had bought new a few years ago and kept in reserve. I haven't noticed any problems with the battery.

I did find some information about them. They look more like e-Ink Android "tablets" which require some kind of eReader app. I know some folks love that flexibility, but I would rather have an eReader just built for reading. It also looks like you might also be able to Energy Sistem eReaders with Boyue branding (at least on one model I saw).

Not sure what their availability in Canada would be. Aside from buttons, Kobo seems like such an obvious answer. |

Yeah, that's the other issue with the Kobo. The T2 (and T3) can download books directly from the library. (At least mine can. Apparently there are some T2s in some places that can no longer do this.)
