I own Timothy Holme's Inspector Peroni series (sadly not available in Kindle); how do these compare?

I'm afraid I haven't read them, so I can't make a comparison. The TV adaptation of the Montalbano books is very faithful to the original, so if you enjoyed the TV series, you'd probably enjoy the books.

I bought them all at their full price (normally around £4.50) and thought them well worth the money. I know we have similar tastes when it comes to detective fiction, so I'd suggest buying them.

Yes, these are fun books to read - mystery with a sense of humor. It must have been a challenge for the translator to come up with an equivalent of the mangled Italian names spoken by Catarella (a regular character in the books) so that they are still funny in English.

That’s right. In the TV series (which is in Italian) we never learn why Caterella does mangle his words, but in the books it’s explained that he is an uneducated local who grew up speaking Sicilian, so consequently he can’t really speak standard Italian and gets everything mixed up.

Thank you. All repeats for me, but this is a pretty good series. I'm now missing four books: #1, #4, #19 and #25. I suppose I should stop being a cheapskate and shell out the 99p each for them . At least I've got the other 22 books free!
