Some first impressions about the HDMI screen function.

It works but the mouse pointer is a little bit stumbling. It's not so easy to aim for menus or buttons or ... maybe with a little bit exercise it will be easy.

It works fine if you use terminals, shells ... though.

Have you tried with the trail? Native for Win, Compiz for Linux.

oh. I cannot get the resolution 2200x1650 from Intel Control Panel. there is lack of suitable windows 10 driver or hardware limitation of my laptop.

EDIT: the ticket is now open.

EDIT2: a less quick check seems to reveal that many searched for pressure sensitivity in VNC products, that MS in even recent stages did not implement it in RDP and that TV did not support it either not long ago.
So, your best strike of luck could probably be that Mr. Iordanov gets intrigued ; )

It is not clear what you mean as you mention the "Android application".
thanks!
I mean "Android Application" is Android RDP Client. for iPad with Apple pencil, "Duet Display" enables subdisplay with pressure sensitivity.

Of course it would be possible to have something like that "Duet Display" on Android, and I am sure many such things already exists: it is just something that many would dismiss.
That looks like an ad-hoc closed product, not like a standard technology.

Now, for what VNC is concerned, Iordan replied that "sending pressure information" is not part of the standard (and I duly checked as by him invited). So, the correct way, I would say, to fix the matter, is to have the standard extended.

Otherwise, to make a hack, it is probably not extremely difficult to modify a server and a client to support that. But it would be an incorrect process.

I find the profile "Toshiba-UH2D" ( which Windows 10 recognize Max2 as )

I can edit and test it but I don't want to break my expensive Max2. It is better for Onyx to distribute suitable INF file of Max2.

Tried the following instructions to get python and jupyter working on a Max 2:
  1. Install termux and hacker's keyboard (e.g. via f-droid)
  2. Start termux
  3. Install wget and gnupg2: pkg install wget gnupg2
  4. Get repository setup script: wget https://its-pointless.github.io/setup-pointless-repo.sh
  5. Run script: bash setup-pointless-repo.sh
  6. Install some termux packages: pkg install scipy numpy clang python-dev fftw libzmq libzmq-dev freetype freetype-dev libpng libpng-dev pkg-config
  7. Install some bits via pip: LDFLAGS=" -lm -lcompiler_rt" pip install matplotlib pandas jupyter
Step 7 kept failing here due to network issues but breaking the command up into three pieces seemed to work better.

Verified that python, jupyter, vim, emacs, and git worked

--------

On a related note, I had problems while installing python(-dev?):

PermissionError: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/'

on a rather different device, but found a work-around at:

I believe it was:

$PREFIX/bin/python -m ensurepip --upgrade --default-pip

--------

P.S. Thanks for all of your testing work

That's excellent sogaiu, immensely useful (also given the limited amount of coding we can do directly on Android),
but as an answer, the actual request was at thread
"Python on Onyx"
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=290371

Could you please move your findings in the correct thread? This is "Monitor".
Or, maybe you can create a new thread, such as "Programming on Onyx devices", and your findings already cover premises for more than just Python.

Ah, sorry. Since the original thread you mentioned appears closed, I'll create a new thread.

On a side note, I don't see an edit button to modify my existing post...

BTW, I've tried to get a Galaxy S8 to display to a Max 2 without much luck. The attempt used a USB Type C dock with an HDMI port, but all I saw in the Monitor app was a black

Anyone else tried something similar?

Hi,

I was able to make the max2 work as a second monitor with the hdmi port.

Trouble is that it does not work with all laptop/os. The max2 and hdmi cables are not to blame at first as it works with one laptop/windows10. But I could not make it work with another laptop/debian or with an android tablet (note pro 12.2).

Max2 just says that I should check the hdmi cable. I tested my laptop/debian and android tablet with another screen, it works perfect. So the only reason for them to not work with the max2 is that there is a misunderstanding between both, like my laptop or tablet tries to display a resolution the max2 is refusing.

Did you experience such troubles ?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards

No problems (but the occasional) with Ubuntu.
Which GUI are you using? I use the Nvidia Control Panel.

My laptop is a lenovo T400 which does not have hdmi port, so I use an usb to hdmi converter,
which is a kind of graphic card you can plug on usb port. It works well with a standard screen,
but not with max2.

I do not use any gui to switch, just "xrandr" on the command line.

xrandr does recognize the usb to hdmi converter, but default modelines may not fit the max2.

Any hints welcome.

Indeed, I would be grateful to you if you could do that, so that I could see which modeline works with the A2

? The Onyx Monitor application uses only A2.
And since, as you know, dots swarm, I do not recommend this implementation. Have you tried VNC?
