I'm so very glad that here trash day was yesterday. We had enough snow overnight to cover both animals and it's still coming down. (And don't worry about Norton and Christian, they're safe inside with us.)

Our trash is picked up twice a week. The good thing is it is in big dumpsters so we can take it out anytime.

I've just had to do a run to the "tip" (rubbish/trash recycling centre), a 20 mile round trip, as our bins are full. They only collect once every two weeks here, and because of Christmas it will be nearly 3 weeks between pick-ups (just when you need it most). I'm going to have to do another run before they next collect on Monday week.

Cleared the snow (still powdery and sweepable) off the cars and steps ... and found a layer of ice underneath on the steps ... hope it got sunny enough for the Ice Melt to clear the steps before tonight's big chill ...

I waited until the thermometer was above 30 F, but the winds were howling at 30 mph or more, ....so I bundled up in a T-shirt, under a sweatshirt, under a wool scarf, under a Dickies quilted hooded work grade parka, with a Duluth Trading eared cap, over insulated ski pants, with 2 pair of socks inside Adidas ski boots. And I was still cold.

But I did remember to throw out extra squirrel and bird food ....

My sister and I went to The Greatest Showman tonight. I loved it, so much that when I got home I immediately bought and downloaded the soundtrack.

I've just made a cup of tea (Cranberry Lime Punch) and now I'm going to wind down before going to sleep.

I got out and swept first thing this morning before any sun could hit the steps, cars, or sidewalk. I wanted to make sure there was nothing there to melt at all. Crossing my fingers for the early morning.

The first Sunday in a while where I don't have to run errands, go to the store and do things I didn't get to during the week or have to be social because visitors are over.

It is my father's birthday, but he'll be sleeping in. So I'm now taking my time to wake, read a bit and update my Calibre library.

We're storing our bags in the kitchen. They'll probably stay there until Wednesday (trash day) when I'll have to brave the snow to put the cans out.

Eating ice cream, preparing to go back to school tomorrow in two capacities.

1. I start my second semester towards my Bachelors in Education
2. I take over, as a long-term substitute teacher, a 4th-grade math class whose teacher left when the kids went on Christmas break.

I'm preparing for a busy afternoon running errands. Yesterday was the first truly lazy Sunday in a while. Today is the first Monday in about a month we have time to run errands (the store's closed on Monday, so that's our errand day), which means we need to catch up on some things. At the moment the list includes the craft store, Staples, a supplier, the recycle station, a supplier for café's and restaurants (my mother likes a very specific coffee cream) and the supermarket.

When we get home and have unpacked I'll start packing for my vacation. Or rather, dumping my stuff in storage bins, to be sorted on Sunday.

Mu challenge is to find a job. I was made redundant last year, along with many of my colleagues, and I now really need to get back to work. It did let me finish the first draft of my novel, and I am now nearly finished the first edit run-through, but that ain't gonna pay the bills...
