Resetted Jailbroken Kindle 5.8.9.2. Anyway to get Jailbreak back?
Kindle PaperWhite 3 (2015) - Wifi, G090G1
My Kindle is in 5.8.9.2, it was jailbroken quite a while back i believe in version 5.6.5, the first of jb.html hack. after that i had it in regular use for quite some time, and then after long break i used it and it upgraded to 5.8.9.2 it was fine around that time, only the special offers which was removed earlier before jailbreak had come back partially. no new special offers would be downloaded, but it said it had special offers. anyway fast forward i think 6-7 months, last week i turned on my kindle again, and the normal books were working fine, but KoReader would not work properly. I tried reinstalling it but it was not working properly again. I thought this was maybe a jailbreak problem, because special offer was also back, and koreader was not working properly(i hadn't tested it the first time 5.8.9.2 got installed) so i tried to get back the jailbreak. using the hotfix, and several other files. the MRI package would install but there was still problems with KoReader and LinkSS. Koreader would try to open file manager, and then turn off. it could open the last document though. LinkSS would just say something along lines of couldn't load Screensaver after Restart. So, I tried jailbreaking hotfix, used MRIP to install latest version of Kual, python, linkSS, Jailbreak. Now I did all this after 4-5 hours of research in order to not mess up, but i was so tired, i misread the instruction of Not to Reset as Reset in one of the jailbreak. I had fortunately backed up everything in kindle root directory (/us? the one with documents and mripackages folder). so thats all i have now left of the old Jailbroken kindle. there was one post of some key. If you know the version of the software you had the last time you installed the jailbreak/hotfix - and you are still on that version - then the jailbreak is still installed.
On paperwhite 5.7+ versions, you will not lose the jailbreak unless you do the reset followed by a software update. ( but reset does remove all the hotfix and SS and other hacks. ) You should be able to re-install the .bin version of the hotfix ( the nomax version from my snapshot thread ), and then continue installing all the other hacks you want to have. The Key is stored in /etc which you cannot see over USB. |

You don't mention WHICH "hotfix" you used.
Try this one: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...68&postcount=4 It is specifically package for people who can't stay away from the 'Reset' button. Installing it, try, in order: MrPI (put in /mrpackages) UYK (put in / visible USB root, then "Update Your Kindle") Reboot into it (put in / visible USB root, then reboot using a press and hold of the power button) At least one of the above three ways to get the package to install should work. report back on what you try and what the result is |

But now after reset, this hotfix worked with UYK worked now though. After reset, I didn't thought of using hotfix. Thanks a lot. So now, should I just go on with installing KuaL and MRIP and everything? I just don't want to mess up anything now. |

That is about the only way you could mess something up. Yes, everything (other than the jail break and the hotfix) must be re-installed after an Amazon update. |

Okay,
Last question, will changing Amazon account affect the jailbreak. I read somewhere, not to change registration. It's not really a problem for me. My girlfriend has her own Amazon account, in which she has several books. I could download it from Desktop and De-DRM it, but, I would like to be sure of the situation. |

Otherwise the rule for what is required is the same as that for any other registration change. ONLY the jail break survives, you must re-install everything starting with the "hotfix". |
