We actually got to a high of 2 above today! First time in a few days that we've been above zero.

Oh, and I never heard any fireworks last night either. I fell asleep before midnight though.

We had a couple right at midnight but they didn't last long.

Might be worth logging the phone into WiFi when you're at home. I had Sprint/Virgin Mobile and now have T-Mobile, and both had a setting where if you were on WiFi, the calls were actually VOIP instead of cellular.

At least he'd get his calls that way....

$@£#! boilers. Woke up this morning to a cold house. The $@£# pilot light in the boiler had gone out. It looks like the $@£# temperature sensor has died.

I'm hoping the repair chap can come out sometime today and fit a new one.

Not a great time for that to happen, though at least there's no snow about at present. Although "they" (the unreliable they, usually) are saying more is headed our way this weekend, so good luck getting it fixed in time).

What a nightmare I had at the ER yesterday. It was like something out of House or an episode of ER. The place was swamped with flu. They were treating people in the hallways, it was dirty, unsanitary and I saw several disgusting things like equipment not bring properly wiped down, nurses not wearing gloves. It was like a third world country.

They called me back after two hours into a room with a chair to do blood work and urine sample, then this guy sticks this IV thing in my arm and leaves my arm bloody. I sat that way for four hours before I got a stretcher in the hallway with three other people. The doctor asks where the pain was and quickly checks my stomach when I told him the pain is in the back. I'm given a GI Cocktail with no supervision. I about choked on it because it numbs everything it touches. It does nothing to help and I'm trying not to throw up because I can't feel anything or swallow. So then I'm given muscle relaxers and potassium. That made me drowsy and it was 7pm and I just wanted to go home. They didn't check for stones, they didn't do a CT Scan or anything else. My blood work came back fine and I was sent home. The doctor looked at me and said "I don't know what is wrong with you."

So I waited seven hours for nothing. The nurse took out my IV arm and didn't apply pressure. So as I was leaving I started bleeding all over the place. All over the ER Hall, the chair, and my clothes and my jacket. Thank God for that ER attendant who was with me when I got the IV was now working the front desk. I got her attention and she jumped without gloves grabs tissues and gets the bleeding to stop. She cleaned me up, got me a few dressing and demanded to know my nurse's name.

It was a nightmare. I got to see America's healthcare at its worse. I got to see them tell a father there be a four hour wait while his baby girl was in severe pain and peeing bright red blood that there was nothing they could do they had to wait in line. I got to hear her sobs and her pleading. I asked to give up my spot for her but they wouldn't do it. If I left it would just go to the next in line. She was in so much pain and could be dying and they didn't care. I got to see multiple urine samples because they were doing them out at the front desk. I got see people sitting with IV connector in their arm because they called you back for a few minutes in a room to do labs then sent you back out. I sat with mine in a open waiting room for hours. I kept cleaning the hair that fell on it from the air.

One nurse told a guy to remove his mask if he was having trouble breathing because eight out of ten patients that came in had the flu so he was exposed and the masks did not help. It was chaos. It was horrible and all I could think was I hope they are charging a discount on these people because the quality of care was the worst I have ever seen in a hospital.

I'm extremely pleased to report back that the repair man DID come out, it WAS the temperature sensor, and it all got fixed in under four hours from my previous post, and for just £60.

I'm now a lot warmer.

I am glad to hear it.
We once had a heater go out. I am guessing the receptionist was planning a party with her co-workers as soon as the big boss left.
I called, she told me it wasn't broke. Hmmm, yeah I know some guys are good at diagnosing over the phone but not that good. I asked for her personal certification number. I got the big boss immediately. He asked me how much longer I would be home. I told him. He asked exactly what did the heater do or not do. Then sent guys over with all the parts they needed. He would have done it himself but he said he needed to shower and change. He would see me in a few hours.
We were all headed to my father's funeral. He was in HVAC his entire adult life.

Excellent. Could have been so much worse, especially with the current storm there!
