Brilliant, I've been browsing the sales and bought a few books already, but hadn't spotted these. Only four books I hadn't yet bought in the series, and I now have them for £4!

The first two books in Alexander McCall Smith's No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series are currently on sale for £0.99 each at Amazon UK.

I highly recommend this series. I really enjoyed the characters and setting.

I haven't yet read the books, but it's a shame the HBO series wasn't continued. I enjoyed it very much.

I seem to remember this is the way we used to do it and then switched the new threads at the beginning of each year.

Yep, see for example the 2016 Mystery thread which is referenced in the first post.

Although there is a bit of pain at change-over each year, I think I would prefer to have threads for each year, to avoid having them just get crazy long.

Another thread has shown that the software can cope with crazy-long threads, and the useful stuff is either in the first post of the last few posts, so we'll carry on here for now.

Sigh - yet another change made by the moderators with no input, that I'm aware of anyway, from average members. And any attempt at discussion will get side-lined to the much ignored Feedback forum, where it will die, rather than being done in the threads that are impacted, so pretty much pointless to disagree.

Oh well...since I value fellow members, and since I derive benefit from their posts, as well as, I hope, providing some benefit to them, I will continue to participate, albeit with dimmed enthusiasm...

Several of the titles in the Jacquot series by Martin O'Brien have dropped to $0.99 as US Kindle Countdown deals for about 2 more days. I read the first title in this series a long time ago, when I picked it up as a DTB in a UK airport, but the series never seemed to make it to the US, and about that time, my business trips to the UK dwindled off, so I never read any more. My memories of the one I read are pleasant, so I'm happy to see these on sale.

The link below also picks up a non-series title, Lunching the Girls, which looks as if it might be amusing.

It looks as if some of the later titles may be self-pub - SYKM only lists Jacquot titles through #7, and doesn't list Lunching, so if you are particularly sensitive to this, beware <grin>.

Why can't this thread just be unpinned and a new one pinned for this year? Just because the forum can handle crazy-long threads doesn't mean its a good idea to have a crazy-long threads?

I don't really care if it's one long thread or not. I only ever look at the last page or two anyway as any deals in earlier pages have usually expired.
