I decided to start off the new year by reading some of the books that've been on my TBR pile for quite a while. I haven't been able to let them go so it's time to read some of them.

I've started 4 different books today, but none holding my interest. I think it's because what I really want to read in the new JAK or Amanda Bouchet's Heart of Fire which both release tomorrow.

However with the Audible Romance subscription, I am finally getting to some series that may have languished forever. I listened to the 2nd Bodyguard book yesterday, by Cindy Gerard, and it was excellent! Today, listening to the 4th Virgin River book by Robyn Carr. Both of these series may have never left the TBR list, I've been interested in them for years! |

I quite enjoyed it. The romance at times takes a backseat to the suspense, but that works for the plot. It is a solid romance and the h/h were fun together. Lots of humor and a good cast of supporting characters.

	Spoiler:
If you haven't read the first book, I think this can be read as a stand-alone, though obviously the overarching mystery won't be solved until the final book of the trilogy. |

No, I don't have her latest three, and I'm still looking for nice library now that Brooklyn isn't available. Thanks for comment! |

Check Orange County in Florida, it's where I've gotten it (the first day). And they accept people from other countries (but it's much more expensive than Brooklyn, 120$ per year)

I totally, totally agree with library addict. I've enjoyed it a lot (I finished on Tuesday, so no much sleep that night

). I've enjoyed more than the previous books, I think, but I'm going to give to that one another try too

The second book, Promise Not to Tell, is the first one to really delve into the overarching mystery. And there are parts of it that are resolved. It doesn't end on a cliff-hanger or anything. Her previous releases before that, Trust No One and Secret Sisters, are both totally stand-alones. They were contemps, not paranormals and not part of Arcane Society or anything. I know she's gone back back to writing straight romantic suspense, but I hope she returns to her paranormal contemps long enough to give us the third Dark Legacy book (Arcane Society). But it's been five years now so I'm not sure if we'll ever get it.

I'm fond of her Castle books, too. Her Quick books are being released in my country, so it's fun reading them again.

I might try some of the romantic suspense. For years I wanted to read the Arcane series by this author, but I cannot for the life of me figure out a reading order for me. I cannot under any circumstances read stuff out of order. And by order I mean chronological. I cannot and will not go back and forth in time in a series. I detest that as much as I do in tv shows where after watching 5 minutes of gripping action they put up the "48 earlier". Ugh. I looked through many reader sites, other listings. I cannot find a cohesive order to read these. I detest intertwinded stuff and one of the most shiver inducing words are "they don't have to be read in order". Shudders. I had to turn the Joanna Bourne series upside down also as the author wants them to be read out of order. There is no way I am going to read a book about a old bald boss and then go back in time to see his HEA story when he was young. That ship has sailed at that point. So I had to find a chronological order. Much easier as there aren't as many books. Almost impossible with the Arcane stuff as there are so many different series over different pen names. Its just too much work trying to figure that out. I have a similar issue with the Dark hunter series. I think that is the one I am thinking off, I can't recall totally now, long paranormal, I read the first couple and then couldn't figure out whats what. I should be ok reading Amanda Quick standalone HR, which I like and I guess the romantic suspense. But only if they are not related to that arcane stuff. It shouldn't be this much work though reading books.
