That's what I mean. Since comparable e-readers are sold for $120 without ads, where are you 'saving' $20? Could Amazon really not afford to sell Paperwhites without ads for $120?

I wonder, if Amazon sold Paperwhites ad-free for $140 and you had to check a box to add the 'special offers' and drop the price by $20, how many people would do it? How many would complain that the Kindle is overpriced compared to the competition?

I'm trying to figure why anyone would buy a Kindle Paperwhite for $120. They're consistently on sale for $100, sometimes for $90. And refurbished Kindle Paperwhites are $20 less (sometimes more than that) than the Paperwhite's new price. Right now you can buy a refurbished Paperwhite for $80. If you add $20 for removing ads and you're still paying $100.

Not for me. For a short while they expanded to California and my Uncle (RIP) loved them. So he would have me pick them up for him when I used to live there. I didn't like all the chopped lettuce. I used to call them "Water Burgers." Now I live in Texas and could get to them all the time (if I wanted). My wife likes them, so I usually pick one up for her (she likes the Monterrey Melt) and I'll warm up a can of soup or something. A couple of my kids like their chicken strips.

They've got them up here in DFW now. I'm not crazy about them either. The main things I remember about In-n-Out burger is that they had a two line bumper sticker. The "clever" wits in California use to black out the "b" and last "r" on the second line. Also they always had leaning palm trees. We've got one about half a mile away and the palm tree fell over. They tried to prop it up and replant it and it fell over again and they took it away. So now we have an In-n-Out Burger without a palm tree. (Dang Texas sand ... err ... "soil.")

They have 2 different cheese sauces and a french fry dip for their fries.
Hubby gets egg, bacon, one cheese, avocado, guacamole and grilled onions on his.
I certainly have nothing against Fudrucker's burgers but they aren't close to being as good as Whataburger. You've proven your lack of distinction with respect to burgers both by offering that comparison and mentioning cheeseburgers. Nobody who puts cheese on a burger knows beans about hamburgers. That's like putting ketchup on your steak.

Oh wait! Do you put ketchup on your steak?

I have to save up to buy my devices and Amazon has me figured out. They never put them on sale once I've got enough saved. They always wait till a month after I bought one.

No I don't. By the way I like my steak rare.
As per beans. They need cornbread. You never put beans in chili.
As per burgers out here if we are only doing regional: I will take Texas Burger over a Whataburger any day of the week.

I thought there was some kind of pattern there! So try saving up until you have enough to buy one on sale – and don't go any higher. Sooner or later they're going to HAVE to have a sale. (Or maybe we would never see one on sale again. Scratch that!)

If Amazon depended on me to subsidize their eBook and eReader business they would go broke. I buy used (or heavily discounted) devices, buy cheap "reprint" books and borrow from the library for everything else. (I guess every now and then I buy a full-priced Kindle book.)

Last full priced kindle book (and only because I had a gift certificate) was Atlas Shrugged.

Ayn Rand is profound if you're a teenager.

I read The Fountainhead in my late teens. And though I disagreed with her perspective, it made me think.

I tried Atlas Shrugged a few years later and it was awful.
