Looks to me as if JS can do a lot more than that, viz:

The latest version of Job Spy needs v3.x, which is out of reach for my current PC.
I wasn't aware that version 3 added any extra requirements as to the power of the computer its run on; what makes you think it does?

Thanks for the attachment. It sure looks like JobSpy could handle my row color preferences.

My 32-bit Vista has reduced performance (or non-performance) with some newer versions of programs I use. However, I don't have data that suggests calibre v3.x will have reduced performance on my PC.

Because calibre 2.85 meets the majority of my needs and I'm comfortable with it, I decided not to upgrade to v3 until I get a more modern PC. Maybe will bring me a new machine.

Thanks,
Marty

Hi Higgs I seem to be stuck again
Can you help?
I created a column awhile ago called star. It has a yes or no option
I want to colour it for when I star a good book.
Or is there a better way to mark good books?
Don't want to mess with my read row That's working really well thanks.

What I do for marking favorite books is, instead of coloring the row, to add an icon in front of the row (so, you can add an icon in front of the row if the column star is set to yes.

This picture would be an example (I use icons for a lot of things, tags been shown here):
