Nope, it's pretty clearly your dismissal of dyslexia as simply needing more practice that led to the perception of lacking empathy and for me at least your statements that listening is inherently lazy even when *you* find it more difficult that lead to doubt as to your understanding.

l freely admit that I'm simply too *lazy* to practice paying attention to complicated material with my ears (the last time I regularly listened to books they contained much simpler material) when I can just pick up my tablet and have read the book in a tenth of the time using already well practiced skills. I do see merit in practicing listening skills so I've been listening to the Great Courses where no written option exists, sweetened by linking it to working on my embroidery so that even if I fail to retain much of the lecture I have another bit of my current project done.
Don't stitch it to yourself if the lecture gets super interesting.
So wall hanging, pillowcase or something else.

I'm more likely to stitch it to itself . Currently, I'm working on a fairly large cross-stitch work with fine detail that will likely end up as a wall hanging.

Because I find people who have to listen to words rarely have put in the practice to be good readers.

If you would rather listen to an audiobook than read a book, you or your parents were lazy when you were a child and you find it easier to listen to someone read to you, as if you were a young child who did not yet know how to read.

For myself, listening to the slow speech of someone reading aloud to me is too tiresome to be entertaining or enlightening.

Have I made myself clear?

The mistake you are making is assuming more difficult = tiresome. *Listening to words* is not difficult at all. Babies do it. However it can be tiresome, esp when there are better faster options as you have cited below.

Once again, lack of reading comprehension rears it's ugly head.

One wonders if it's all this listening instead of reading.

First off, if one has dyslexia, that is a handicap and so, exempts one from my admitted judgment.

Second off, how exactly does one get better at anything if not by practice?

Third off, please quote or cite one instance where I said I found listening **more difficult**. I mean, anybody can listen. Apparently however, not everyone can actually read. Including some in this thread.

I want proof that people that listen to audiobooks aren't good readers.

I must give you credit: you have achieved the impossible.
In the course of this thread, you have managed to insult pretty much everyone.
Oh and I happen to know several PhD's that listen to audiobooks.

Now my best advice to you is quit trying to get out of the hole you have dug. You are just getting deeper.

Your attitude definitely reminds me of my daughter.

I have done that more than once. I have a cross stich project (Coca cola Santa, 71 colors), a set of pillowcases and a plastic canvas Santa that I am working on.
I tend to listen to crime shows while working on a project.

You never said it was difficult, you said people that listen to audiobooks are lazy.

As I see it, from everyone that has answered you, they are busy not lazy. Every one of them also reads books. The people here are not stupid. Without looking at who responded specifically: there are several veterans (Thanks guys), scientists, engineers, professors, over-educated domestic engineers, jewelers, authors, ITs, scholars, pretty sure at least a dozen would be called Doctor offline, many have Masters degrees.
Now I can't be 100% sure, but I would bet all of them can read.

Oh and by the way on the veterans, I mean the bad war.

Sorry, anything I could provide would be strictly anecdotal but since I'm not really interested in convincing you, even if I could, that will just have to do.

Feel free to feel otherwise about it.

Quick and honest question.

Did you teach her how to read or did you let the public schools do it?
I did and so did her grandmother.
My mom, me and my kids all started reading at age 3.

Then next time say" in my opinion I find people that use audiobooks lazy".
Use words. Oh and good luck in your English class.
I am guessing you are a freshman in college.
Oh I am not the spokesman, but when you say people are lazy because they do one thing, you are being insulting.
That would be like me saying without any clarification: people that wear perfume stink.

Don't you think thanking people who signed up to kill brown people overseas while protecting corporate interests because they didn't have many other options a bit sycophantic?
