Reading setting issues
I am also having issues with the reading settings, as reported a few posts earlier.

I only see page 1 of 2 in settings, and can't advance by swiping. I can advance something by manually saying go to page 2, but that page is blank.

This is the bechaviour reported earlier, but I also have another issue: the settings for showing reading progress seems to be gone. My reader is stuck showing pages left in the chapter, and there's no way to get it to show the pages left in the book, or the percentage read.

Is anybody else seeing this?

What device do you have? And exactly what options do you see? Are there any headings (grey bars the title) without any options? Are you using the large print mode? Have you enabled the full screen mode? What language are you using for the interface?

And are you using any patches? If you are, you need to remove them and check. There might be an unexpected interaction between patches or with other areas of the firmware.

In the meantime, you can edit the config file and set the reading progress option. Look for "bookProgressType". Setting this to 2, seems to be the chapter progress and 5 for full book. You can then change between page number and percent by long pressing on the page numbers while reading. With that, you can cycle between the available displays for the progress type.

H20 original version. No patches, no large print mode or any other nonstandard modes or hacks. (At least, I think not; I don't even know what large print mode is.) I see Page Controls, Page Appearance (Adobe Epub page numbers) and Water Detection. Language is English (Canada).

That's it. Page 2 is blank.

But your last sentence seems to answer the question: one can toggle between the various progress modes by long pressing the page numbers while reading. Maybe they took it out of the settings and made this behaviour the default.

The toggling by long press has been there for a long time. At least since they added the chapter/full book option. And it doesn't change between the chapter and full book display, just page number, percent and time to read (for kepubs).

The options are still there on my Aura ONE. I'll have to check my Aura H2O tonight, but I'm pretty sure they are there. Options changes are one of the things I look for when I get a new firmware version.

I was wrong in the post above. The long press on the page numbers toggles the display of chapter progress between percentage, pages, etc, but it's still relative to the chapter.

There is no way I can find to make the progress relative to the whole book.

I am reading KOBO EPUBS, for what that's worth.

Until we can work out why you are missing the options, you should be able to edit the config file as I suggested above.

But some things you could try:
- Restart the device
- Change language or try large print mode (in the Beta Features in the Settings) and then back.
- Reinstall the firmware just like you did when you installed it (don't factory reset).

The first two are to get the device to rebuild the screen. The last is in case something went wrong during the install.

I really need to get around to working on an automated script to post new firmware releases to mobileread (I've been planning to do this for a while), and update the posts as they are released to more devices,

It's OK. The first post doesn't need to be updated as there is yet another new firmware.
