Brilliant idea! I do find the techie rants way above my head most of the time (read: tedious).

Not ONE thing has gone right today. Not ONE.

• I'm being audited.
• My most productive bookmaker has had a death in his near-immediate family (grandfather), and has had to travel home--a huge distance, across an ocean--and I don't know when he'll be back. This is our busiest time of the year.
• I have a client that is drunk-dialing me, at midnight and thereabouts, to complain that when (insert name of Indian bookmakers here) did books for her, "all I had to do is click. I don't understand why I can't do that with these." (She can. We, however, don't send books via email; we send encrypted download links. Apparently, b/c she has AOL or what-have-you, she can't figure out how to SAVE the effing file to her downloads folder. )
• I've spent most of the day trying to get her on the damned phone, to have her dl Teamviewer, so I can open the bloody books on her desktop--and she's DUCKING my calls. I want to scream.
• I have another client that's unhappy with how her book looks, on an eInk KF8 (Voyage, or PPW, I think, maybe an Oasis) at Ember font SIZE 7. She's also complaining about how the font looks, on the numbers for numbered lists--because she's overriding the embedded font, with her font choice. Duh....
• My winter break cannot get here soon enough. It just cannot.

I get needing 56 colors for some cross stitch projects. But 56 fonts for a book? Mind blown.

Oops mis-remembered. The project I was thinking has 71 floss colors including at least 4 similar shades of brown.

I sincerely hope this is a book about the history and usage of fonts. Otherwise I cannot imagine the use case for 56 fonts...
Man, think about the needed licenses for that as well.

In the May 1943 issue of Superman, the Prankster copyrighted the alphabet and forced everyone who used letters for any reason to pay him royalties. It looks like "The Great ABC Panic" was ahead of its time.

Man, think about the needed licenses for that as well.

Nope, it's a MG reader (middle grade). For reasons that elude me, random words throughout the manuscript are in different (many different) fonts. So, a word like "fluffy" will be "FLUFFY" and "happy" will be "HAPPY," and so on--to the tune of at least 75-100 total different font faces.

Literally like that--3x the size, and in a different font. (sigh).

Wolfie, my sweet, I've inquired, oh-so-gently, about the licensing, but thus far, the designer hasn't deigned to return my emails.
