Not sure that there's been a change. Mine says shipping soon too but the delivery date still hasn't changed.

Switched to one day shipping on first order day, scheduled delivery Feb 25th! Amazon usually delivers faster than stated time, and I was worried all the Kindle 1 pre-orders would gobble up the first production line. On another board, someone said you could see your serial number on the order page (?)

I dunno -- can YOU see your serial number on the order page? You don't have to have a serial number, to begin buying books for the new Kindle. You probably can't download them till there is a serial number (to encrypt them with). So I imagine the serial number gets added to the account when it actually does ship. Let us know! I'm on the waiting list too, but I refuse to pay for faster shipping.

I can't find a serial number and my status is shipping soon with a note that the order can't be changed. I've also been charged already. Delivery date hasn't changed - still Feb 26...

You're exactly right! And I can't wait to see them ripping open the packages, flinging paper and cardboard over their shoulders until they reach their precious new gadget. It'll be crazy enough to scare any child or small animal in the vicinity.

I wonder if the new K will be as nicely packaged as the K1 was?

That little box with the lettering all over that opened like a book, revealing the Kindle in all its glory........

Well, I can't remember getting so obsessed about a material thing, a close second would be awaiting a book. I went with one day shipping on Feb 11. My Amaz card hasn't been charged yet, I can't cancel my order, it is scheduled to arrive on the 25th, yet if I order within the next ten hours I can get it on the 24th with one day shipping? Well, maybe Kindleh will get here early, and I'll get the UPS guy who leaves my stuff if I don't run downstairs fast enough. I am to old to chase trucks! No Zen like qualities here.

My Kindle 2 has shipped early but the arrival date is still March 3rd. And that's just to my state-side address. After there, it needs to be forwarded to my over seas APO address.

I was going to buy one, but ...

I have an iRex DR1000S and Sony PRS-505 and I think each has its own value, but at the same time lacks something.

I have waited for that something for a while. iRex Iliad was an option, but it was/is too expensive. Sony PRS-700 was next, but with the worse screen, no internet access and no dictionary, it is out of my interest. Finally, Kindle 2 has arrived, but with disappointment. For some, it may be useful, but for me it is not satisfactory.

Now, I am waiting for the next versions of the devices. If iRex Iliad 3rd edition comes out with lower price (the screen size deserves $500), if Sony improves the screen and adds Internet access and dictionary function, or if Amazon adds tablet pen feature (and remove the keyboard of which space may be used for larger screen) and opens the system (e.g., external storage), I would buy any one that comes out first.
