Says the person in the Kobo thread area with just kindles in their profile.
not saying your biased...but ![]() On the subject of back ups, I've been reading ebooks including some very early format types for over two decades, thousands of books, magazines and comics. I still have every one of them. In fact storage is now so cheap that I currently have mirrored backups in multiple locations for a fraction of the cost of my original storage that I first started with. My most recent partial backup of my entire twenty year library was to three micro sd cards (400Gb each) now sitting in an envelope in a bottom draw! [QUOTE=PeterT;3619695]FYI Josie did have a Kobo but had a range of issues and switched to Amazon
Well that answers that, I've had many issues with equipment from many manufacturers over the years but still try to keep a balanced view. |

Yes, exactly. In the US you are not likely to find any e-ink devices in a store unless you are in a Barnes and Noble (Nook) or Best Buy (Kindle). If you are going to buy an e-ink device, you are likely to do so online. And where's the first place you go to shop online? Amazon.

I ended up buying both an H20 and a KA1 just so I could get my hands on both and try them out. If it weren't for this forum, I likely would have stayed on the Amazon platform since that is what I chose back in 2010 when I first got into ereaders. |

In the Washington, DC area I think Politics & Prose still carries them in-store; they definitely still have them listed online. http://www.politics-prose.com/kobo

I have one from SanDisk for work testing. It works and the capacity is great. I do feel a bit paranoid since it's so small and easy to lose, that it is the first removable device that I'm using encryption on. The cost was ~$250US but for that, you also got a USB adapter.
Sadly, I'm not going to recommend purchasing them. The cost is too high and too few users can justify needing that much storage. Last edited by DNSB; 11-30-2017 at 10:11 PM. |

What's the average life expectancy....72 for males, 78 for females? Just saying with the health of especially Americans and our fat problem....70-80 is a pipe dream for a good portion of society...

Average life expectancy for males born in Canada in 2012 is 80 years and for females born in Canada in 2012 is 84. For Australians, it's something like a year longer for each.

Excuse me, you are obviously showing your age or lack thereof. On average life expectancy, that takes into account the age everyone dies. Example 1937 had a lower average life expectancy than 1936 or 1938. The war years were also lower due to the age of the soldiers. Say an infant and a 90 year old die. ALE: Just dropped to 45. Just so you know last month, their were several 87 year olds that passed away. There was one 64 year old and I think one 20-something overdosed. In October, we lost a 60+ year old. He had a history of living hard. My own father died when he was 57. He would more than likely still be alive at 77 if he had taken care of himself. My aunt died earlier this year at the age of 98. Sorry but 70-80 is not a pipe dream. Now can I recommend you quit trying to dig yourself out of the age hole. You are just getting in deeper. I have a long history of digging holes or as we called it, putting our foot in our mouth. |
