As to your question, most people I know have a coffee maker. Many also have microwave ovens.
I don't have a tea kettle, but I do have a couple of percolators, I have taken the insides out of to turn into a hot water dispenser. One holds about 12 liters (3 gallons) of water. It is called a coffee urn if you want to see one. I have both a regular blender and an immersion blender. I also own two manual blenders. The manual ones can also be used as a mixer. The beaters from my electric hand mixer fit perfectly. I also have a 6 cup food processor. It gets used once in a while. I use my manual food choppers all the time. Oh I picked up a little 1 cup electric food chopper at Goodwill. Works great for 1 slice of bread otherwise it isn't worth the dollar I paid for it. I also have both a toaster and a toaster oven. I have never made toast in the oven. The toaster oven functions as a small oven. Great for summer baking. It is put up now. I also have a stand mixer, the grill, a bread machine and a deep fryer along with several crockpots and slow cookers. The West Bend slow cooker is different than the others. |

Aside from the microwave, the appliances that I use every day are a Panasonic toaster oven and an Oster electric steamer. I also own a Nuwave oven that I use for baking things that can be turned over mid-baking. Great for baking a whole chicken, fish, baked potatoes, etc. Also good for reheating pizza. Uses less power than the regular oven and doesn't generate as much heat--useful during the summer months.

When it comes to cooking, which I enjoy, I'm a Luddite, stove is gas, only powered appliances are: a fridge that's too big, a Swiss espresso extravagance, and el-cheapo electric jug. Everything else is good quality and hand operated - very sharp knives and mortar-and-pestles are essential . Outside tandoori ovens seem to be trending down here. Couple of friends have recently acquired them - alongside their crematoriums barbecues. BR |

I'm guessing one of us has had too much cremated meats and vegetables.
You read vegetarian, I read way overcooked. IIRC: she is a vegetarian. And here I thought you had decided you wanted something more exciting than rotisserie chicken (from the store) and cheese. |

Here grilling is the same and is a very common way to cook, we love to grill fresh fish especially in the summer.
The toaster, microwave and the coffee maker are very common also but they are different from yours, we like our coffee strong so we drink expresso and there are many brands and models of expresso machines, from the basic ones that only do one cup of coffe to the ones than have built in coffee grinders, milk steamers for cappuccinos, or option to dispense hot water for tea. Basically like the ones from the coffee shops but in small scale for the home. The old ones use coffee grinded but nowadays the more commons are the ones that work with capsules (I think your know them as Kewring or something like that) every coffee brand has a coffe machine that works with capsules and even every supermarket chain as their line of capsules, some are normal, some have flavours and even teas or milk chocolate and other drinks. This ones are so popular because they are so easy to use. I had one that used coffee grinded but when it broke I bought one with capsules, basically because It is easier and quicker. I had a bread machine but didn’t like it and sold it, When I prepare bred I do it on the stand mixer. does anyone here have an air fryer? What do you usually cook on them? The idea of fried food without oil is appealing but does it really tastes like fried food? Is it still crispy? |

@issybird - I'm not a vegetarian, but I eat very little meat from mammals or birds.
About 20 years ago I decided to try giving up the things that I didn't really enjoy or need. Eating meat was one of those things, the smell of it roasting, barbecuing etc has always make me a bit nauseous. I also discarded a lot of possessions. BR |

When I was young and still lived in England, my mother swore by the Rayburn. Ours was coal fueled, had two (or maybe three) ovens, each at a different temperature, an iron top with multiple locations that were usable as hot plates, and a water tank that supplied hot water to the radiators in half the house (the other half got hot water from a gas heated tank).

It’s not an appliance, but I just used one of my favorite kitchen cleaning items. I used my cast iron skillet tonight for pan seared salmon, and the chain type cleaner I use is perfect.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FKBR1ZG...YNWHL2ND&psc=0 I had it on my Wish List a couple of years ago, and one of my sons bought it for me. I used to use a Doobie sponge scrubber for my cast iron, but had to keep one separate so it never had soap in it. That chain item is much nicer. |
