I must have gotten things mixed up then. It's been a while. Maybe it was the GloHD or something

Beat me to it. Note that it's apparently VIP-only. The code is VIPACCESS.

I haven't read all the posts in this thread, but one thing in the product description page stuck out to me:

Quote:
Kobo Aura ONE Limited Edition’s new, enhanced page-turn speed lets you quickly skim through your story, so it’s easier to find your favourite passages.
Is this known? And is it different from the "old" KA1? I'd been under the impression that this was simply a storage boost. That language isn't on the original product page.

Even if it's faster, though, I don't personally see any reason to upgrade. All of my books don't even amount to a single gigabyte, so I'm nowhere near filling my "small storage" KA1. I doubt I'd even come close to filling it if I did read comics, because we're still talking about hundreds, and I've never once needed access to my entire library and been unable to go to my computer.

The page turning speed has improved in recent firmware. But it might be referring to something new that is coming in the firmware being released at the same time as this device.

And for those who want to look, the link to the details is https://us.kobobooks.com/collections...imited-edition.

While I wouldn't complain about a speedup, part of me would be a little annoyed to see that and not, say, ligatures in the kepub reader or the ability to disable the header while reading (yes, I know you can do this with patches). It often feels like Kobo adds features that are pretty dang marginal, but I guess I'll take what I can get.

I must say I'm disappointed that this device isn't being offered in Canada (whereas the new Kindle Oasis is). After all, Kobo is headquartered in Toronto; it has a large market share in Canada (versus a minuscule one in the US); and many of us have rooted online and in social media for the home team. It seems quite the snub.

Me too, I am a little baffled why it is not sold in Canada.

It would fit well selling in the Indigo Bookstores.

Hope you wrote to them and told them so. Otherwise, they are unlikely to change their misguided practices.

You know something don't you? Thanks for the linky - looks shiny and new *makes grabby hands* - now you have to start the subtle persuasion campaign all over again

It’s pretty easy to fill with comics. I can fit about a couple hundred volumes of manga on mine and most of those B&W only which saves a little space. Comics are quick reads and usually part of series so it’s pretty easy to amass a lot of these.

Also it seems like Rakuten has started selling the 32GB KA1 as the Comic Edition in Japan. Propbably to compete with the manga model of Paperwhite available over there. Doesn’t seem like its limited there either.

If you read the press release I linked to early in the thread, comics and manga are explicitly mentioned as needing the space. And that's the reason why Japan is one of the two markets where it is being sold.

I bought a 16 Gig external disk for my Kobo Glo, because I thought the 2 Gig that comes with it might not be enough, considering I've replaced most of my novels with digital formats.

I've received My Kobo Aura H20 by the way, with a cover and the 32 Gig external disk. I find the ereader a bit small, but I don't have much problems reading mangas, digital ones I bought on Kobo Store anyway.
