An unlocked phone is better if you ever want to use it for phone service. It will have more LTE bands than no contract phones an you can use it for any carrier. A no contract phone usually has only the bands for that specific carrier. Another way it's better is that you won't have any of those pesky carrier apps that you can't remove.

Agreed. If all anyone wants to do is play audio, the no-contracts are good players for that since they won't be loading lots of apps.

Don't forget folks, Black Friday will roll right into Cyber Monday. So sales should continue until the end of next week, though prices are usually better during Black Friday.

I think the unlocked is still better. The no contract has the carrier apps and that's also an annoyance - the carrier apps may give notifications and also use up battery. Although if the no contract is a lot cheaper, then that would be a reason to buy it.

Unless it's AT&T you can disable carrier apps on a phone. I've done this with Verizon, Boost phones no problem.

I've had AT&T for a very long time so I didn't know. That's good to know, thanks. If you disable the apps, they still take up space though.

None are showing at the advertised price. No way am I going to Walmart though!

Anyone else having an issue checking out at Best Buy?

I am signed in, but when I go to the cart it asks me to enter my address and payment method then it tells me for faster service I can create an account

I've tried multiple times using 2 different browsers. I tried calling them twice, but was disconnected both times.

I own the Maven II and it's such a crappy phone you are not missing out on anything. I had a Maven I before that and while it wasn't as bad as the II... I can't see any Maven being worth the $8. The view angle on the II is horrible. The sound is horrible. I have nothing good to say about it. The battery life isn't good either.

I had the same issue when placing an order for the $8 ZTE phone. I ordered twice.
