Also I know at least two guys, no wait three on MR that are the primary chefs in their family. Also are you aware most restaurant chefs are MALE? Sorry but kitchen appliances are not what I consider girl stuff. |

My mother in law makes her turkey in her Nesco roaster. Those are pretty neat. It's not a slow cooker but it kind of looks like one. Keeps the kitchen from heating up. Sent from my XT1528 |

For years I made the Thanksgiving turkey for the family -- wife, kids, Mom, Dad, brothers and sisters. I got an 8 pound turkey breast and cooked it for 10 (or so) hours in a large crock pot.
When the kids were home I cooked all of the dinners. When they left my wife started to take an interest. |

Sometimes I think I have to write novels in here to cover all eventualities of interpretation. Of course a kitchen appliance is not gender specific. My GF wanted to order girly stuff (apparel, cosmetics/make-up, etc.), AND a blender. Apologies if I worded it in such a way that it seems I deem a blender to be girly. (Actually, my GF and I cook 50/50. When cooking for people who appreciate what I make, I actually love to cook.)
Device in question Normal price in the Netherlands is €119, as you can see in the MSRP (Unverbindliche Hersteller Preis). When I ordered it in The Netherlands, I got it for €82 (in a deal/advertisment). A few days ago, it was €59, my GF wanted to order it because it was half the price compared to the Netherlands, and when I went to order it the day after, it had dropped to €38. That lasted for a bit more than a day; now it's back at €82 again. === Well, it does seem Amazon did manage to get everything to my house on the promised date of november 16 or 17, despite jacking around with the delivery dates. The last article, sent today (early in the morning), will arrive tomorrow if everything pans out. HOWEVER... One of the pieces of clothing is labeled Small (edit: with the label in the back), while I ordered Medium. The box actually says Medium, but the garment says S. @$%$%#$%@. So, it's either an S piece in an M box, or it's an M piece with the wrong label. Swapping it is a hassle: - Get it to post office tomorrow - It'll be shipped next Monday - Wait for Amazon to receive it - Wait for return shipment As I'm seeing my GF next Sunday and next week Thursday, I doubt Amazon will have swapped this in only 5 working days with shipping back and forth. So it would be 10 days or even two weeks from now before she can actually try if the swapped article fits. On top of that, we don't know if the M size will fit; her measurements point to M, at the higher end of the range. She _might_ need L however, being Dutch and thus quite tall compared to the average height in other countries. (She's 5 foot 9, or close to 1.75m; I'm 5 foot 11, or 1.80m) If she'd need L, I'd need to swap it AGAIN. Of course, this might all be moot if it actually is an M piece with a wrongly attached S label and it actually fits... but I don't want this to potentially take weeks of swapping and sending back and forth. Therefore I've ordered the article again using the free Prime Trial (which I'll cancel as soon as I receive the piece), and then: - It fits and I return the one labeled S - It doesn't fit because of her height, and then I'll swap the M for an L and at the same time I return the one labeled S. I _HOPE_ I'm going to receive an M-labeled piece in an M-labeled box this time around. And on next Saturday too, as indicated. Jeez. Now I know why I never order clothing for myself on the Internet. I can imagine why some people just order two or three sizes at the same time and return the ones that don't fit. Last edited by Katsunami; 11-16-2017 at 06:39 PM. |

I found it odd they labeled that a standmixer. Now on women's clothes sizes, SML refer more to the size of the chi chis or waist than the length. Your girlfriend would be considered tall here. |

It's German. It appears to be their word for 'blender', as all of them are labeled like that.

I don't know. I have no clue about women measurements ![]() In the Netherlands, she's around average (!), while I'm short. Currently average heights are 6 ft. 1 in (185 cm) for men, and 5 ft 9 in (175 cm) for women. You don't want to know how I feel when walking around in Amsterdam. Every single man is _at least_ two inches taller than I am, and half the women are _at least_ my height. The height of people in the Netherlands is becoming quite ridiculous to be honest. We are actually the tallest country in the world right now, where not too long ago it was a toss-up between the Scandinavian countries. Last edited by Katsunami; 11-16-2017 at 07:32 PM. |

I'm not short, either--just about your g/f's height. I'm not Amazonian in other ways; I'm slender. Some mean folks might say "skinny." (poooh.) I've always found it difficult to find pants that are long enough (most of my height is in my legs). So, I don't do any shopping for clothes online, unless I know the label or designer VERY well. Not to mention all the crapola with making clothes ever-larger with the same label sizes. In the late 60's-early 70's, I was considered then a "perfect size 8." Not anything "perfect" about me--that was because I fit the dressmaker's dummies sizes exactly. To the 1/8th-inch. NOW? Now, I can still wear the same clothes I wore at 21--and somehow, magically, I'm now a 0-2. Sometimes a wild and woolly 4. It's RIDICULOUS. I've seen women who should be 14-16's, in 8's. It's absurd that marketers are somehow selling that, successfully, to women (and men). With men, it's harder because they've used measurements for ages--44 long and the like--but they have messed with the S-M-L sizes enormously, pun intended. You gotta wonder how it is that people are so willing to be gullible to fall into that crapola. "Oh, look, this 8 fits me, I'm going to buy it!" grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Hitch |

So if women themselves are looking for the smallest size label possible, it's no wonder the XL of the 1980's has become the current S or something. While clothes shopping with my GF (she hadn't done international shopping before, and doesn't have a credit card or PayPal), we've actually encountered brands marketing sizes XXXS, XXS, XS, S, M and L. With one of those, she would have had to get an XS. It makes me think their sizes REALLY are XS, S, M, L, XL, and XXL. Does it really matter? No. But psychologically, it apparently does. This is even true for my GF, and it makes her uncertain when she has to order sizes that are larger than she's used to. (Which she ran the risk of, by ordering from countries were women are generally less tall and smaller than she is.) She is not skinny, not fat, but right smack dab in the middle of the 20-25 healthy BMI range with 22.5. With 23-24 (fluctuating...), I'm 'officially', fatter, but she thinks that's a load of BS. Then I said quit worrying about sizes and dress to the b's. She always decided going up a pants size since her granny panties were very visible under her pants. I have since gained many more pounds. I still dress to the girls which can kindly quit growing at any time. Now I am lucky if I can get in an XL. Of course since the lower half is still not big, that makes me look 20 pounds lighter than I am. |

I came home today to find that one of my kids updated Firefox to version 57. Which means a couple of the extensions i rely on no longer work. DOH!!!!
Anyone know of a good replacement for Tab Mix Plus? Really the two things I want from it is "change tab by using the mouse wheel in the tab bar" and "reopen the last closed tab by middle clicking an empty spot in the tab bar". What about Roomy Bookmarks Toolbar? It let me use a bookmarks bar that only showed the Favicons not the full title of the bookmark. Which meant I could have ~50 bookmarks visible without needing to scroll down a list anywhere. There is something that works close enough to the "back to close" extension that I can get by without it. |

But FWIW I'm sticking with version 54 (August 2017). I "can't" live without some of my XUL extensions, and there are no WebExtension alternatives. At least one well known XUL developer tried to re-design, and re-develop his extensions, but he gave up because the new 'platform/ecosystem/framework/api' lacks too much functionality. I.E. it's been dumbed down to the point of being useless. I stopped upgrading on August 18, no problems so far; I've updated some extensions and my theme since then. BR |
