Jailbreak fw 5.9.2

Hello everyone.
I have a KPW 3 on 5.9.2 firmware, not jailbroken. I'd like to know if it's possible to jailbreak it. The jailbreak thread of this device says that it won't work only on firmwares whose third field number is larger than 7, which isn't the case of fw 5.9.2, but I'd like to be sure that this rule also applies to 5.9.x firmwares before trying anything.

Sorry for the silly question. I also apologize for any grammar mistakes; I'm not a native English speaker.

Thanks in advance!

Is 5.9.2 the entire sequence of numbers or are there more numbers in the sequence?
It does make a difference.

There are no numbers after 5.9.2, I mean, the firmware version isn't "5.9.2.0.0" or something like that. But there's a sequence of ten digits in brackets after it, starting with 3250.

Since it is not a PW3 running 5.9.2.0.1 firmware the answer is: No.
You can not jailbreak your device/firmware combination.

Thanks for the answer. I will try to jailbreak once this firmware version arrives at my Kindle.

Cheers!

It will not arrive, since it was never released by Amazon.
If the device didn't have it when you took it out of the box, it will never have it.

Yes, you can. 5.9.2 is the new update and you can install KUAL or screensaver hack in your Kindle PW3

To jailbreak your Kindle PW3 (5.9.2 firmware), follow these steps:
1. Creat "mrpackages" folder in the root folder of your Kindle
2. Copy *.bin files that you want to install to mrpackages folder, including: Update_KUALBooklet_v2.7_install.bin, Update_python_0.14.N_install_pw2_kt2_kv_pw3_koa_kt 3.bin, Update_linkss_0.24.N_install_pw2_kt2_kv_pw3_koa_kt 3.bin,...ect
3. Copy "extensions" in kual-mrinstaller-1.6.N.zip to the root folder of your Kindle, too.
4. Open your kindle, searched for ;log mrpi in the search bar, then wait your kindle to install files

Not possible the way you have described it.
Because the ";log mrpi" search bar command is one of ours, not one of Amazon's search bar commands.
That search bar can not exist until AFTER the device has been jail broken because it requires the device to be jail broken to be created.

What you describe will only work if the device had been jail broken prior to the update to 5.9.2
You might have THOUGHT you had lost your jail break with the update, but you where wrong, it did survive.

If previously jail broken, your directions are correct.
People can re-install everything in a single run of MrPI.

Question Serial downgrading?

I just got my PW3 on 5.9.2 and started looking into jailbreaking. Would it be possible to achieve jailbreak using the serial jailbreak method? I saw someone who was able to force a downgrade by placing the firmware file in the root directory and using an option in the diagnostic console. Maybe this could help get it to an FW supporting jailbreak?

Just soldered part of a floppy cable to the serial ports RX/TX and taped a cable for ground on one of the metal plates.
I had a little problem - could not get into diags via bootm 0xe41000 but I copied the factory firmware to the kindle in advance and when you boot up serial at some time there is a message "Press ENTER to open menu" or something like that where you could select to upgrade/downgrade the Voyage with a bin file from /mnt/us. After that I was able to use the installHtml jailbreak method.

Thanks to all

Just follow the directions in the serial jailbreak thread.
They work the same for all touch screen Kindles that have a serial port available.

Always check the date(s) of anything you find surfing this site.
A lot no longer applies, the design of the devices has never been stable.

It turns out Amazon actually released a 5.9.2.0.1 firmware. I'm with it on my Kindle right now. It should be possible to jailbreak my device now, right? How can I do it?

Since you are the first to post about it, you will be the first to find out.
You can't really expect that anything written before what you are looking at was released would apply. Amazon does not ship us preview copies.
PM me when you are ready.
