Jailbreak fw 5.9.2
Hello everyone.
I have a KPW 3 on 5.9.2 firmware, not jailbroken. I'd like to know if it's possible to jailbreak it. The jailbreak thread of this device says that it won't work only on firmwares whose third field number is larger than 7, which isn't the case of fw 5.9.2, but I'd like to be sure that this rule also applies to 5.9.x firmwares before trying anything. Sorry for the silly question. I also apologize for any grammar mistakes; I'm not a native English speaker. Thanks in advance! |

There are no numbers after 5.9.2, I mean, the firmware version isn't "5.9.2.0.0" or something like that. But there's a sequence of ten digits in brackets after it, starting with 3250.

You can not jailbreak your device/firmware combination. |

To jailbreak your Kindle PW3 (5.9.2 firmware), follow these steps:
1. Creat "mrpackages" folder in the root folder of your Kindle 2. Copy *.bin files that you want to install to mrpackages folder, including: Update_KUALBooklet_v2.7_install.bin, Update_python_0.14.N_install_pw2_kt2_kv_pw3_koa_kt 3.bin, Update_linkss_0.24.N_install_pw2_kt2_kv_pw3_koa_kt 3.bin,...ect 3. Copy "extensions" in kual-mrinstaller-1.6.N.zip to the root folder of your Kindle, too. 4. Open your kindle, searched for ;log mrpi in the search bar, then wait your kindle to install files |

Because the ";log mrpi" search bar command is one of ours, not one of Amazon's search bar commands. That search bar can not exist until AFTER the device has been jail broken because it requires the device to be jail broken to be created. What you describe will only work if the device had been jail broken prior to the update to 5.9.2 You might have THOUGHT you had lost your jail break with the update, but you where wrong, it did survive. |

I just got my PW3 on 5.9.2 and started looking into jailbreaking. Would it be possible to achieve jailbreak using the serial jailbreak method? I saw someone who was able to force a downgrade by placing the firmware file in the root directory and using an option in the diagnostic console. Maybe this could help get it to an FW supporting jailbreak?

They work the same for all touch screen Kindles that have a serial port available. https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=267541 Always check the date(s) of anything you find surfing this site. A lot no longer applies, the design of the devices has never been stable. |

It turns out Amazon actually released a 5.9.2.0.1 firmware. I'm with it on my Kindle right now. It should be possible to jailbreak my device now, right? How can I do it?

You can't really expect that anything written before what you are looking at was released would apply. Amazon does not ship us preview copies. PM me when you are ready. Last edited by knc1; 12-12-2017 at 08:43 PM. |
