Kobo Firmware 4.6.10075

Kobo firmware 4.6.10075 has been released. As of November 17, 2017, it has been released to the devices: Kobo Glo, Kobo Aura HD, Kobo Aura H2O. It has not been released to the: Kobo Touch A/B, Kobo Touch C, Kobo Mini, Kobo Glo HD, Kobo Touch 2.0, Kobo Aura, Kobo Aura H2O Edition 2, Kobo Aura ONE, Kobo Aura Edition 2. The affiliates used to check these firmware versions were: kobo, rakutenbooks, bestbuyca, fnac, beta, walmartca.

This firmware release is kind of unusual. It is currently only for the Glo with the rakutenbooks affiliate, and the release notes do not say anything.

If anyone knows anything more about this release, I'd love to know.

Update: Released to the a few more devices too.

One thing is that wpa_passphrase, wpa_supplicant, and wpa_cli are of noticeable greater size than in 4.6.9995.

Vooaaw. I just tried it for my Glo HD and that's pretty amazing. That's the fastest firmware ever. That works pretty cool on my device. I like it! Device acts like tablet. Really fast. No visual changes I can see. That's like a boost on 4.6.9995 body.

Also works fine on Aura Edition 2.

I wonder which affiliates the other ones were released to. Also, the links for the other hardware revisions returned a 404 a few hours ago.

Kobo have stated on the beta list that 4.6.10075 is being released to "Rakuten-affiliated devices" today. The changes are fixes "mainly specific to the Japanese reading experience" and some changes in the shop.

They haven't stated if it will be released to other affiliates, but I don't expect it will be.

The only reason I can think of are a bit if caution. Deploy to the Glo today and the rest tomorrow.

Will be interested to hear what those changes are. Currently, whenever I open a Japanese book in FW 4.6.9995, the screen flashes 4 times. It only flashes once when I open an English book.

Apart from that, I have only noticed a few minor glitches when using dictionaries and adding to MyWords when reading in Japanese. However, as that feature isn't strictly official yet, and as the dictionaries are sideloaded, I can't really complain.
