Apparently. It's not that 1 GB of side-loaded storage wouldn't be enough for me (personally) it's just it would irritate me that most of 5.4 GBs of memory would go to waste. If they're going to do this, they might as well have left the thing at 4 GBs. (Besides, it gives JSWolf another opportunity to run down a product he has zero interest in.)

I wonder what would happen if someone bought the Nook GlowLight 3, didn't upgrade it, loaded 2 GBs of side-loaded books, then upgraded it? Would it delete their side-loaded material? I'm guessing it would.

I wonder if this decision can be reversed, or if someone could use the ADB hack you mentioned to re-repartition the memory?

Well, as it stands now, buying the Nook Glowlight 3 is back to "maybe" dropping down from "probably."

Thanks for the report.

Just like the Koba Aura and Kindle Paperwhite. The difference being that, unlike its competition, you can adjust the screen's color "temperature" on the GlowLight 3. Definitely makes the Nook GlowLight 3's screen the more desirable of the three.

So this isn't something they changed with the upgrade. I guess, in a way, that's "better." But still irritating.

Exactly. I just updated, and now the separate line for "external storage" shows. But the limitation exists pre-update, so blocking the update is no solution.

I thought the bezels were crazy from the pictures, but the size and shape feel about right to me.

I have one and love the size and feel. I've set the color tone to be a slight yellow, just perfect on the eyes.

Jon, since you don't own one, please don't comment. We all know you like, I mean love, your Kobo. No one cares. I like my nook.

Which doesn't need the storage needs to be partitioned.

The partitioned storage just killed it for me. I might check to see if there's an easy workaround, but my lust for the Glowlight 3 is gone.

Hey, Glowlight Plus is $60 on eBay...

I don't own a Glowlight, but I do own an STR and it has the same sort of partitioned memory. Also it's of a similar design.

Hey, Glowlight Plus is $60 on eBay...
Refurbished ones are currently priced at $80 and are available at Barnes & Noble. (I don't know if there's any advantage over the $60 ones at eBay, but these do have 90 day warranties.)

You got that one right, O. Oliver Obvious. I don't own a Kobo, but maybe I should go to the Kobo forum and incessantly whine about why I don't own (and won't own) a Kobo.

Nah, I've got a life.

Really? Amazon certainly doesn't advertise the ability to change color "temperature" with their Paperwhite 3. Color temperature is not brightness.
