Cannot listen to audiobooks from Cloud Library

There are very clear details on how to do what she is trying to do at the Cloud Library site:

It's not that difficult, but she needs to work in the constraints of how it works.

She needs the ios or the android app on her phone, then she can download the audio book and listen to it when not connected to wifi.

OK, so it is a library service.

Seems entirely reasonable that it's not downloadable as MP3, given that MP3 files have no DRM. That would be giving you the book, not lending it to you!

Not if you're honest, as we assume everyone here is. OverDrive audiobooks are DRM-free; presumably they trust people to delete the files when done.

I'm very grateful myself, since that's one way I feed my MP3 player for use while swimming. (Downpour is my other source for DRM-free audiobooks.)

Unfortunately, not everyone is honest. I think it's entirely reasonable to have DRM on library loans, personally. It's great that Overdrive don't, but it strikes me as wholly reasonable that other providers would reach a different conclusion.

It's still not "giving" (your word) people audiobooks. Theft is theft; DRM just makes it harder. If someone borrows a book from the plibrary and doesn't return it, the library didn't give him the book.

Depends on what vehicle you are in. Not all vehicles have usb.
