Sold my PW first gen already. I switched it out twice, and to me it still had a blotchy screen. I have the KO1 and that was such an improvement. Now that I decided on the KO 2, I just sold my PW 1 back to Amazon. Good riddance!
I will be selling or giving the KO 1 away.

I totally agree. I skipped the Voyage, because I was never satisfied with the color gradient. I also returned the original Oasis, because of the cones. But I got a new one and the replacement was perfect!

The screen of my KOA2 is also perfect, but looking at the pictures from WilliamG I totally get that he is not satisfied. I would never have accepted my KOA2 with such a screen.

Some sad news: the top button sometimes doesn't turn the page. I guess it's a hardware thing. I have to return my Oasis and will get a new one Saturday. Fingers crossed it will have a good screen and functioning buttons.

I have a question--I like to read in bed, on my side (right mostly). Will the orientation keep flipping? Has anyone seen that as an issue? I am aware (or so I believe) that there is no orientation lock.
Thanks

No, it won't. The orientation only flips through 180 degrees - switching between portrait and landscape orientation is a manual choice - so it won't flip unless you turn the reader completely upside down.

Yes I do most of my reading in the same way. No the orientation doesn't flip and the leather cover is quite a good "side stand" if you like to be hands free, despite the seam for standing.

My battery does seem to be running down quicker than expected. I've been having issues with the device registration though, so though it might be related to that. It was fully charged yesterday afternoon, roughly 3pm. Right now it is at 49% with only a short period of reading. Will keep an eye on it.

It's almost certainly due to indexing your books. Leave it connected to a wall charger until indexing is complete.

I loaded approximately 2000 books yesterday and left it plugged into the charger overnight. A little over 200 books still remain to be indexed.

To check the progress of indexing, tap the "Search" button on the library screen (not from within a book), and enter a nonsense search string. On the results page, if "Text in Books" in enabled, tap it, and it'll show you the number of books not yet indexed.

I got mine nov 1st. 32gb version but it has OS 5.9.2 and it does have bold options. Perhaps you'll see an update soon.

I had 32 books to be indexed, read approximately 14-15 hrs, battery is at 38%. So battery life seems to be OK.

Yes, for all those who don't want to read the whole thread: the update 5.9.2 delivers Audible support and the bold options and can be manually downloaded from Amazon, if not transferred automatically

Most of my reading is in bed, and most of that on my back (turning over on my side is a signal to my body to fall asleep!).

So what I've discovered since yesterday is that holding it in one hand when I'm sitting or even lying on my side is comfortable because of the way the back works. Doing so when I'm lying on my back, and holding the Oasis above me, causes it be to awkward. It's not resting in my palm it's falling toward me held by my thumb. So when I want to hit the page button it's a little awkward. I end up holding it two-handed anyway. For which it's slightly bigger size makes it slightly more awkward than my Paperwhites but still more comfy than my Kobo Aura One.

Has anybody tried reading Comics on the new Oasis?
I converted some Manga to read on my Paperwhite and it worked in general. Just some fonts on the panels were very hard to read.
I always had the impression that just a little bit more real estate on the screen might help (that is why I am interested in getting the Oasis)
