In these situations, I can usually find something in my case cemetery that will serve well enough until I get the form-fitting one.

A thin plastic bag isn't going to provide the slightest protection against either knocks or scratches. If you don't have any sleeves, etc, that you can put it in, wrap it up in a t-shirt or something.

Good suggestion! The bag I usually take around has a nice protective pocket sleeve that it fits in, so I won't rely on just the plastic bag.

In early 2009, someone in the late (unlamented?) Amazon Kindle forum recommended a pot holder from Bed, Bath, and Beyond, which seem weird, but it is rectangular rather than hand shaped, which makes it suck as a pot holder but great as an e-reader protector. I got one for my then new K2 and have used it for every reader since until I got a cover. I still use it to keep the cover from getting scratched up. It seems it might also be needed to keep the back of the KOA2 from getting scratched up, even with a cover.

That used to be the case for us as well, but now about every third order is late. It's become so bad for my brother-in-law that he uses it to get free Prime every month. He just calls Amazon, complains about his package not being delivered on the guaranteed date and they offer to pay for a month of free Prime. If it happens twice in the same month, they give a $10 gift credit. (He lives in Colorado.) I'm not the the kind to do that, but he says I should be, it let's Amazon know you're not happy. A couple times I've bought appliance parts for more with Prime because I needed them quickly, only to get them delivered later than the non-Prime parts were scheduled to be delivered. It may be growing pains, but if they can't meet the two day delivery guarantee they need stop advertising that they can.

I see Amazon were quick to sort out the 32GB wifi stock issue, maybe that container finally arrived as it's in stock now, 6 days ahead of their estimated 7th November.

I ordered the 32 GB Wi-Fi with cellular. I had originally ordered the Wi-Fi version but changed my mind and cancelled it. Mine says it will ship on Nov. 13 and arrive Nov. 14. I can’t wait!

The Amazon fulfillment center is at I-45 / I-20 interchange. I.E: You could almost see it from your location near DFW. I live twice as far away as you do (about 80 miles) and I always get my things a day or two early. I did use a "Prime Trial" to see what difference that made. I started getting the packages the day before I ordered them. ![]() Last edited by knc1; 11-02-2017 at 10:39 AM. |

Mine is out for delivery! I set the delivery address to my office so that I could get hold of it as soon as possible.
Considering my original delivery date was November 13, I'm chuffed to be getting it so soon. I already have the waterproof indigo cover waiting for it. Edited to add: It's here! Just as I finished writing the above, I got the delivery text notification. Heading down to the mailroom now to pick it up. Man, oh man, it's going to be hard to get any work done today! I sent mine to the nearest depot and collected it at 9:30 am yesterday! By the time UPS would have delivered to the house at 7pm I had all my books downloaded to it and was happily reading. I ordered straight away on the day it was announced but the day after release still wasn't too bad when I read about what others have gone through.
