Thanks Harry. It does look nice and not too light. I just noticed that the merlot is out of stock in the US now. Sigh. So I might have just gotten that decision taken out of my hands.

Thats pretty much how I read with my Voyage, but it does make the supporting finger ache after a while. It's a big reason I wanted the Oasis, but held off until now.

The screen is warmer than the screen on my Voyage, but when reading on it and not comparing it side by side with my Voyage, it looks fine. I'm very picky with screens and see all the issues, but this new 7" screen is great. My opinion was the same as your's when I saw the comparison pictures, but in person this new screen is really very nice.

Just took mine out of the box along with a merlot cover and have played around for about an hour with it. I can tell it is heavier than the first Oasis, but it isn't much bigger. I was afraid it would be much larger than the first one. And I can tell I'm gonna love this stand up cover! I've sideloaded a bunch of books, and synced by BT headphones. Voiceview works fine. I have yet to find where the audible link is in the OS. I guess that's why I need to update the software, huh?

I'm attempting to attached some pics of the size compared to the first Oasis.

My Oasis and Merlot cover just arrived. The Merlot is a beautiful color, just like the photos, but it is smooth unlike last year's Merlot cover and I'm sure it will scratch just like the Walnut. Something I'll just have to live with. The stand works well which is important to me. I think the Merlot cover will look cleaner over time compared to the Tan.

Rob: so did you order the new Oasis? if so, i'd love hear your comparison of comfort in such a reading configuration. my PW3 serves me well, but i would love a slightly more comfortable Kindle to hold in bed, and also i think i would like the 7" screen. i'm also to encouraged to hear the initial reactions to the screens being much more uniform to than prior generation (that's what kept me from the first Oasis). the water proofing and audible books aren't too important to me, however.

The the second photo, the font on the Oasis is a bit light. Can you increase the weight with the bold slider and take another photo? Thanks.

Here it is...

The screen is lovely, although the Paperwhite still looks fine. I do need to get a cover or put a grippy decal on the back of the Oasis if I’m going to use it naked. It’s slick.
