For those in UK, John Lewis now have 10+ of the Oasis 2 8gb model, Amazon out of stock for these till 21st November!

They haven't got the 32GB. I'm not buying the 8GB, i rather stick with my Voyage.

Mine, 32 Gb one, was sent from Italy to Spain... and tomorrow is holiday in Spain so I'll not get it before 2nd november...

Awoke to a dispatch email from 1:20am that said it's arriving tomorrow. Checked Amazon site and it was handed to the carrier at 0:50. Normally I get stuff pretty quickly because I'm close to where most parcel carriers have their hubs. On closer inspection it was dispatched from Italy!

I was a little annoyed but seeing some of the experiences on this thread I should probably be grateful.

Ah, that explains it. the 3G model is the only one in stock. Looks like it's the 32GB WiFi model they've screwed up on.

What an absolute mess Amazon have made of this launch, I'm hoping this gets some publicity. Total mismanagement of stock allocation.

My order, like many of you, is stuck on arriving today. Who are they kidding? As soon as I saw at 11:30pm last night that the stock status turned to out of stock, alarm bells started ringing. I'm not even going to bother wasting my time by calling Amazon up, as you won't get a straight answer from their customer service people.

Options are order the 3G model which is in stock or wait. I don't fancy spending an extra £60 on a feature that I'm never going to need to use. So I guess I'm stuck waiting.

My Oasis is being dispatched from Frankfurt (I live in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK). I went for the 32GB WiFi. I was a little disappointed it was due to arrive on the 6th but having read the posts above I feel lucky! Just keeping my fingers crossed it isn't lost in transit.

Problem solved. After a "polite but firm" call with a manager, pointing out to them that they had given me a guarantee in writing that I would receive my 32GB WiFi model today, they put £60 of gift vouchers in my account, meaning that I was able to order the 32GB 3G model (which is in stock) for guaranteed delivery by 1pm tomorrow.

Josie - I'd suggest you do the same. I had to suggest the solution to them, but as soon as I suggested it they were happy to go along with it. They even added the £4.49 "guaranteed delivery by 1pm" option at no charge.

That's great! Even if you had to suggest the solution yourself, I think it was nice of Amazon to accept the mistake and pay 60 pounds for it

I love this Oasis much more than the previous one and the screen is perfect! I also put the Font Ramp file, and with JSWolf's ChareInk font the text on the screen looks just amazing! I hope you love your Oasis when you get it tomorrow!

That's a neat solution, well done.

I wonder how Amazon decide how many of the 3g and WiFi models to make. One assumes the balance is significantly heavier in favour of the WiFi model, but I wonder what the proportions are. This issue has arisen before, but I have never been affected but I always go for the 3g model.

It's all about communication, that's what Amazon lack when things go wrong. They could have had a disaster with some stock that got damaged but they should have emailed those of us still waiting for dispatch and changed the delivery date on the orders. To leave them languishing as Arriving Today is unacceptable and risks us ending back of the queue behind orders currently being placed.
