Kindle 3G hotspot and 3G call

I found this article:
[Link to article from 2012 deleted]

I am not saying to overuse the Internet at Amazon. And I appreciate the internet from them.

But if I'm not wrong in the EU is the law:
You are not allowed to block a device just on your network.
So Amazon would have the obligation to unblock it for free.

However, here (in this forum) is a tutorial on how to use another SIM card.

I have a cheap prepaid SIM, where the operator allows 3G telephony.

If the Kindle 3G already has a built-in 3G module, why not use it to make 3G call?

What are you going to use as a speaker and a microphone?

Also because it will not work, the Amazon account is limited to M2M traffic only.
(Google it if you don't recognize the acronym.)

But using a different SIM card means using a different carrier's account.

The built-in microphone and speaker.
But maybe the built-in microphone does not have the harware connection that needs in the 3G modem........

Is there an internet application that can transmit the call voice just like on the phone?

As mentioned in the thread that knc1 posted a link to, "topics which are actively undermining Amazon's business model are not condoned and will be moderated."

Links to discussions of how to hack the Amazon-provided 3G connection are not permitted at Mobileread. Links deleted.

I saw a hole that I thought was for the microphone.

But there is no microphone in this picture ....

With WiFi headphones with mic.?

For the K5, over Wifi or USB networking only.
It was the last thing twobob built before he left here.
Only tested once, with an International call (UK to USA).

Years ago, of course such software is much more common these days.

I opened my Kindle 3 Keyboard.
(Because I tried to flash it with a cubrick and I think I broke it)

I opened it and yes, the Kindle 3 Keyboard has a microphone.
Right where I thought (next to the USB plug) it was just covered in plastic.

Why did I think the Kindle 3 had a microphone?
Because in general, audio codec integrated circuits do not only have a speaker out and also a microphone in.

It doesn't have to be a phone, it's just an internet communication application.

Kindle 3G Keyboard then accesses Facebook.
I would be curious if you can make a phone call on Facebook with kindle.

Why was I using kindle for Facebook when I could use my phone?

It is the only screen that can be seen in the sunlight.
It would be the Mirasol screen, but I have never seen such a tablet.

Since you opened it up, do you know of an easy way to remove the sim?
