I think you should keep the new one and give the old one to your husband. That would be an upgrade for both of you. You'd get a fresh battery and he'd get a Paperwhite.

So far after trying all these eBooks I want or might consider reading, I've won nothing.

Me neither...
I wonder if it really is positive marketing for them to give folks SO many chances to fail? As illogical as it is, since I intellectually knew the odds and still chose to play, I've gotten a bit frustrated/cynical. And, I'm not sure frustration is the emotion they wanted to inspire. For me, it won't make any difference, since I'm already a hooked consumer of ebooks, but not sure they will make many converts... |

With all the data's Amazon's got on me, you'd think they do a better job of targeting items of real potential interest. Audible couldn't be helped, for obvious reasons, but at least I never linked my Goodreads account, which does an excellent job on its own of marketing to me books in which I haven't the slightest interest , despite knowing exactly what I'm reading and what I think of it. |

All I can say is that if I were a flat-earther I'd fall off the edge, they go so broad on those horizons.
What is especially annoying is that they shill all those unappealing books with a tagline something like, "Based on your reading, we think you'd like ...." Well, no. Based on my reading, there's not a chance in hell I'd like that book. The truth would be more like, "We're getting paid by how many people we push this suggestion to and despite our representations to the author or publisher, we can't be bothered to use the enormous amount of data we've amassed to target these selections in a manner that might result in some sales. Byeee!" |

I don't do Goodreads either, but Amazon and Audible actually do a pretty good job with recommendations for me. Often I've already read or listened to many of the titles they recommend, or have the titles on my wish list at the library.

Audible is very inaccurate for me because of the daily Audible deals I post. Kindle is also out because I frequently look up genres in Kindle.

Despite the fact that I always look at the daily deals, Audible is still quite accurate for me. My occasional oddball Kindle searches for work-related information seem to confuse the recommendations only temporarily. They've got me neatly pigeonholed.
