Odin, the User's Guide says, "Operating temperature: 41°F to 95°F (5°C to 35°C)."
https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/c...de+-+en_US.pdf I would not leave my Kindle out in below freezing weather. When I lived in Colorado I carried electronic gear next to my body if I had to be out in very cold weather. I was as concerned about condensation as anything else. |

B. When I reading, I am normally sitting where it's reasonably warm, wearing flannel pajamas if necessary. I would also wear gloves if it were cold. To me, this is like waterproofing so I can read in the rain. I've never felt the need to read my Kindle in the rain. C. I believe the Voyage has a metal back. I've heard no complaints related to the back. |

I think a greater problem will be using while the temperature rises after dawn to the dew point and condensation (aka dew) covers your screen.

By the way, does anyone know what the name of this device is, if we want to distinguish it from the original Oasis? Is it Oasis 2?

Here it will be a KOA2 Amazon? Probably a 9th. generation Oasis (or 10th generation, since they seem to like to skip "9" just as some other manufacturers do). Last edited by knc1; 10-25-2017 at 03:54 PM. |

I think the official name is just Kindle Oasis, because the old Oasis is out of production.

I suspect they are just continuing the policy of "ignore them, they will go away". |

That's it, thanks. The metal case will probably lower allowed use temperature or for the worst end make it unusable in the least frost. I don't care about hold just frightened that device will be shut down.

I always jump a bit--in the summer when I sleep with no shirt--when I rest my iPad against my belly to check something before bed. The metal is a lot cooler to the touch!

e-ink screens slow down in the cold.I imagine anything below 4°, and you have to reboot once in the warm. at least it was case with pearl.
