Most people use it to fix the problem of "this size is too small but the next one is to big, I would like something in between". (for me #1 size is to small, #2 is bigger then I need, so I've made in-between size using FONT_RAMP) Download the attachment from this post, unpack it and open that "FONT_RAMP" file with some text editor like Notepad++ (I would avoid using "Notepad" if you are Windows user... because of the "end of line" difference between Linux OS [which Kindle uses, and Kindle will be reading that FONT_RAMP file] and Windows OS) to study its contents. You will see that it contains 14 float/decimal point numbers. To read about how you can calculate the number read this post. Keep in mind that FONT_RAMP font-size remapping only works for AZW3/KF8 books (so no old .mobi and no KFX books). Last edited by shamanNS; 10-14-2017 at 11:53 AM. |

Given the math, a font size of 1em would be 5.33 in FONT_RAMP.
16px*0.00333=0.05328*100=5.328 (5.33 rounded) |

Fascinating to see all you ppl using font sizes 3 and 4 - guess it must be a sign of youth
![]() As an oldie, I used to try smaller fonts to get as much text on a page as possible, and while I could read it, it just didn't feel comfortable. Then I thought - Why do I need more text on a page anyway? It's not exactly hard to turn over, using just a press of the thumb on my Voyage. So for over a year I've been using size 7 Bookerly, which was very comfortable to read. I've just installed the new update, and still in Bookerly have increased bold to 1 and reduced size to 6, and first impressions are that it's even more comfortable to read. So I for one am very pleased with it ![]() |

It is automatic in that app. Everytime there's an update I have to go change it. Annoying to some but I still like it for reading all my different forums in bed.

I would be grateful if someone would post the 14 FONT_RAMP sizes corresponding to the new firmware default sizes to use as a starting point. I am sure it would be useful to others as well.

And I'm not trying to get more text on the page. I set the margins to their widest to give me the narrowest text I can get. I learned about this by reading on my phone with it's narrow screen. I just seem to read faster that way. Barry |

I am going to try this soon. I have what I call "bionic eyes" due to cataract surgery. Still need readers but will want to play with this to see if I can do away those (at least as far as my Kindle is concerned). I think the adjustable bold is going to help the most.
