I think this Brazilian rumor is quite possible - the article looks like a draft that has been inadvertedly published by a journalist who had the information first. Of course it can also be an advanced trolling. My biggest suspicion is the mention about IPX8 - this is very strong protection for e-reader.

The Amazon app has a banner concerning ‘the all-new Kindle Oasis’. It does not link to anything so no details. Presumably it is waterproof, given the context of the photo. On Kboards there was a cryptic post that said it was waterproof, 7” screen, and supports Audible. Could be...

I also saw the banner once using web browser, but it just went to the Oasis listing (same as before). And now it isn’t showing.

If it supports Audible it is gonna need a lot more storage (8GB at least), or else it could stream over wifi (something I wish the regular Audible apps - and not just the Windows app - would do). And one wonders if it would have TTS (not just Voice View).

Guess we’ll all know soon.

That's interesting but also quite disappointing. If they bring out a 7inch waterproof Audible enabled Oasis the cost will easily be the same as now (possibly more), that's far too expensive and even if I bought one I wouldn't take it on holdiday to use in the pool or on the beach. I take my oldest, least valuable, ereader on holiday in case of accidents.

If this rumor is true, it means that Amazon is going the wrong way. The Oasis is a very prro design. They would be better to dump the Oasis and make a PW4 Voyage with a 6.8" screen and waterproof. If an Oasis is coming out, Audible is going to make that 6 day battery last a lot less.

An "up to 6 days" battery life if it follows the usual Amazon assumptions of reading for 30m a day with WiFi off and the screen at half brightness could be very poor indeed - a mere 3h of reading .
