Thanks for your response. i have since moved to the previous firmware and my kobo glo hd is functioning without any performance issues.

However, I just loaded a pdf that is all high resolution images of pages. Before page turns were unbearably slow -- maybe 5 seconds before I got a clear image. Now I get an image in a second or so. Panning the zoomed page is still annoying, but only a little slower than it is for text pages now. This seems like a huge improvement, despite the extra screen blinks and panning issues.
You might want to try installing Koreader on your Kobo. The PDF experience tends to be much better on Koreader.

I've tried koreader. While it did page pdfs faster, last time I tried it, it wouldn't allow panning or free zooming at all which made it much worse than the kobo native pdf reader.

Also, koreader didn't handle shelves so I had to page through thousands of both pdfs and epubs mixed to find anything.

Overall, I thought koreader was horrible with a primitive backwards interface.
Anyway, discussions of koreader don't belong in this thread, and I do follow the koreader discussion in case they ever fix it. If you want to discuss this, PM me or start a thread there.

I have this FW on my Glo HD. I typically see a 7 second delay in the places others have noticed. When I don't have a book open, it takes that long just for the screen to wake when opening the cover. If I have a book open, it wakes right away. Mildly annoying, but not enough to roll back.

It looks like this firmware is currently not (no longer) the default for any affiliate... at least looking here https://geek1011.github.io/KoboStuff/kobofirmware.html#

I don't discount the problems others are having, but, entirely in the FWIW category, on my Aura One, this latest firmware, fully patched, has been fine, with no slow-downs that I have noticed. I have about 300 kepub books on my Kobo, and no collections.

The "My words" feature seems nicely to develop.

Hadn't really intended to start a discussion of Koreader here which is why I kept my comment so brief.

Just thought I'd mention it in case you weren't aware of it... But it seems that you've already tried it and it doesn't suit your needs.

Cheers.

Yes, and if you see my post from sometime on Saturday you will know why. I did add a link to it in my post on the first page if you want to find it quickly.

Thanks.

I installed it on my Aura and don't have problems with it - but I also installed it on my son's Kobo Touch hoping that it might fix his issue where the reader doesn't remember his position in the book he's reading; however that doesn't get fixed.

After going back to the home screen and re-opening the book, he consistently is brought back to a position pages and pages 'ago'.

Any ideas anyone? (he had it on the previous firmware and on the current, and on some other firmwares before)

He's forced to use bookmarks to get back to where he stopped reading. Quite frustrating for a budding reader (he's only 9yo)

Try a factory reset and then a firmware update.

try a different book to see if it does the same if it doesn't then it could be a problem with that particular book.

edit, it's definitely worth trying another book before you doing anything else.

best wishes koboy
