FYI - the sites listed in your initial post are no longer valid. The only sites I could find that had the files did not have checksums. Hard to check if it isn't available. Perhaps you could change the links in your initial post so that others don't have the same problems?

Those links go to my own (paid for out of my pocket) servers.
So guess who marked them "private" rather than "public".

You didn't give google a fair chance.
You needed to search for both filenames.
There are hundreds of copies of each of those files on the 'net now.
Although a lot of them where hotlinking (bandwidth stealing) to the files on my server - those are now also dead links. Can you guess how much I care?

I have a Kindle Voyager with a Firmware Version of 5.8.9.0.1 (3175970011) purchased from Amazon's UK site and I believe it might be possible to jailbreak that particular Firmware Version.
I've tried the standard jailbreak tools and they do not seem to work although they have not had any effect on the device. I have Wi-Fi disabled to prevent the device from updating to any more recent Firmware Version and have not to date registered the device with Amazon.

Any books currently on the device have been sideloaded with Calibre. I'd like to jailbreak mainly to use nested folders so would appreciate any help available from the community.

Did you do all 9 steps including the spoilers?
It looks to me like you missed a step or two.

Reading the first post again I didn't realise the importance of registering the device. Let me do that and retry the steps. I assume I need to put update.bin.tmp.partial in the top directory before turning on Wi-Fi to register the device?

Kindles do not support nested folders.
The firmware has a flat world view of directory structure under /documents.
Nor do they support nested collections if that is what you have in mind.

With some instances of 5.8.9.0.1 it can be jailbroken.
Go directly to step 5 - try that.
If it doesn't work, then you do not have an instance of 5.8.9.0.1 that can be jailbroken.

I am stuck at step 3. The link to download the factory firmware does not work. It says "The file you are trying to access is no longer available publicly.
Please contact the user who has shared this file with you."

1. Can you fix the link?
2. Can I skip this step since my firmware version is already 5.7.4?
3. Just a curiosity, what does it mean PW3(B)? Black? If it's white it does not work?

1) Fix the Chinese Kindle/Android and I'll fix my link.
2) No. It is not the version number that is significant, it is being a "factory use only" firmware build rather than a customer use firmware build.
3) If its white, it gets dirty easier.

I wrote wrong the type of my kindle. I have a G090 KE -> PW3W, PW3WGI, so I have to download factory_PW3_5.7.4_initial right?
