Update; door now reattached and working. If you knew how bad I am at DIY you'd realise what an achievement that is

I've just ordered some cool packs and a, if I say so myself, stylish cooler bag for my trip to the UK. Three years ago I wasn't impressed by the food on the boat and I was even less impressed by the prices. So this time I bring my own, probably a salad plus some snacks. After looking around for a while I found that the ANWB (Dutch AAA) had both on offer, I cost me less than €7 with no shipping costs because I'm going to pick it up at the nearest store, which is a 5 minute walk from my home.

I also made a list of other things I still need to get and made a reminder in my diary to order some money next week.

I'm really looking forward to it. And with last week's verdict in the Family Thing I should be able to enjoy it more than any vacation over the past 4 years.

It was a busy and chaotic day in the store, so I've decided on a relaxed evening. I've just made tea, tuned to radio to Classic FM UK, got a snack and now I'm going to curl up in bed and read for a couple of hours.

Looking into a travel wifi router/access point. Yes, all the hotels I've visited over the last couple of years had free wifi, but in the morning and evening it tends to slow down. Most hotels also offer free high speed wired inter access in the rooms. I'm hoping by creating my own wifi network from the wired access it'll be a more reliable connection.

The last time I looked, years ago, they were both hard to get in the Netherlands and expensive. There still aren't that many available, compared to the US, but the simple ones are €25 to €40. So worth a try.

I'm currently being paranoid that on Sunday I won't be able to find the right bus stop for the shuttle bus between Amsterdam Central Station and the ferry in Ijmuiden. It doesn't stop from the same place as three years ago and there are busstops of both sides of the station. So I emailed the DFDS, the ferry company.

Even knowing where to catch the bus I'll probably be way too early on Sunday.

I'm also looking for things to do indoors. At the moment the weather prediction for next week is that there will be rain.

You *might* try using Google streetview and zooming in on the signs, at the bus stop areas. If you can read the signs in advance, it might tell you what you need to know.

I tried that. But no signs can be read. Plus I don't know how old those pictures, Amsterdam Central Station is being remodeled for years now and things shift about, so any pictures might not be accurate at the moment.

Luckily the ferry company answered and told me that the bus stop is at the river Ij side of the station. So I should be able to find it and I won't be necessary to arrive ridiculously early. Though I probably will, since on my route there will be maintenance early in the morning. Weekend maintenance has a tendency to overrun, plus it's fall so there is a chance that leaves on the tracks can cause havoc.

I just got back from the hospital. I had them check for a blood clot in my leg. No clot! They wanted to keep me to do a blood transfusion because they said my hemoglobin was very low. I talked them out of it. So new iron pills for me.

You need iron, you can have some of my blood. I have excess iron.

I knew my iron was low but was a bit taken back how low it was. I don't want a blood transfusion. I promise them I'd take my iron pills. So far so good. I notice no side effects.
