I've had to step back to 4.5.9587 on my KA1, It did not like the new update at all!

Usually the boot screen shows two blocks (out of five) before starting but with the new update it went through several complete block cycles before starting.
There was a constant white line down the right hand side edge, either on or off, this disappeared when I went back to the older firmware.
Press any button on any window and it took up to five or six seconds to respond, but open a book and it was fast.
Again back to normal after applying old firmware

Scratching my head about this release...

Can I be rude and ask if you read the thread? I did spend a lot of time listing all the new features.

Thanks for the reply nothing untoward with my dates so no idea if the update will fix. not sure if gonna leave for another week to see more replies before updating

Which is a return to how it worked for a long time. Recent firmware would four blocks on my device and then appear to hang for a bit until it suddenly displayed the home screen. With this, the "dancing squares" are back. If they stop, you know there is trouble,

Which is too be expected if the problems are in the new firmware.

I like the approach. But this mode is much too big for me. A setting option in percent would be perfect.

I don't like this update. I agree with Mr Meanor.
Controls are sluggish. When i press a button, it takes several seconds for my KA1 to respond. And besides, the changes or so called improvements don't mean much to me. So it was back to 4.5.9587 for me.

No, the update will not fix this. The way the library lists works means that if they are in one sort, they are in all of them. A simple test: How many pages are there? If 40 books are missing, there will be at least five pages less. I'd expect the missing books to be at either the start or end of the date added list, so scrolling back from the start might show them.

Another way to check is to open the list for an author or a collection that has books from both before and the newer books and see were they sort.

If you have any SQL knowledge, you can also look in the database and see where they are. The import process adds the book details to the internal database. This is an SQLite database and can be be opened with any SQLite database management tool. You can see what the different timestamps are and how these later books fit into it.

I am seeing it too. It looks like the very rightmost pixel column (almost hidden under the bezel) is always on. It doesn't really bother me, as it's only visible on the sleep screen when the book cover is dark there. When reading, it's invisible because it's part of the right margin and therefore on by default.

But it's there.

For me, controls are sluggish. Hitting search takes forever to come up and going to my collections is faster!!

Going to home is (sometimes?) also very sluggish.

Also, trying to pan in PDFs is painful, a fast swipe and release to try to get to the top of the next column moves really laggy and in small increments, and then blinks 3 times.

Functions including, activity, settings, browse, brightness etc. Even the home button are all sluggish and slow to respond.
Also initating sleep or shutdown took a long time and in some cases the KA1 became unresponsive for quite a while.
The white line was visible to me all the time as I'm currently reading some 'graphic novels' with dark backgrounds and as mbovenenka stated the line is right beside the bezel.

It looks like they have changed the complier for this firmware version, maybe changd the optimisation level too. That might explain some of the slowness.

Firmware 2.8.1, 3.19.5761, 4.5.9587:
GCC: (crosstool-NG linaro-1.13.1-4.8-2013.04-20130417 - Linaro GCC 2013.04) 4.8.1 20130401 (prerelease)

Firmware 4.6.9960:
GCC: (Linaro GCC 4.9-2017.01) 4.9.4

Where were you when you hit those controls? In a book or elsewhere. The issue I see is from inside a book. From elsewhere, there are no problems. And I haven't seen any seen any problems opening the light controls.

Again, am seeing this some of the time but only when reading a book. If I am on the home screen or the library, there are no issues.

It appears that the last couple of books I have read had covers that were white on the right side. I can see it with an black cover.

.
Both in and out of the comic and book, made no difference.
The light and home key were very slow to respond from the home page.
