I saw a mention of PIP cooking up thread. Another suggestion that I saw on the instant pot subreddit is using a steamer basket on top of a rack. The quick and easy meal that I see myself using a lot is to put frozen meat in about a cup of broth, with frozen veggies that can take the steam in the steamer basket on the rack on top, then cook the whole thing on high pressure for about 8 or 15 minutes depending on the meat. (Season before you steam it, of course) I only cook for myself, so most of the time I care about just feeding myself something that's reasonably healthy without needing to invest a lot of thought. This is right next to convience-food levels of work, so that suits.

Thank you, that looks just like what I was looking for, unfortunately it is too expensive, with the shipping costs and import taxes it would cost around 63 $ and they don’t sell it in Europe. At least now I know what to look for I'll look for something similar.

Last night I used my Instant Pot for the first time. I had this roast in my freezer since April I think so I made it in the IP. It was very dry when done but it didn't disintegrate like the Power Cooker did to my last roast so I added BBQ sauce and simmer for 10 minutes and serve as sandwiches.
The Instant Pot compared to the Power Cooker is like night and day. The IP is easy to use, no frustrations and made of quality materials. I don't know if it will get used much but I like it so much better than the Power Cooker after one use. It also fits on my tiny counter so no extension cord needed. Sent from my XT1528 |

I have the Instant Pot brand too. No guarantees, but I get best results when I google for a similar recipe, and then alter to suit me. "Instant Pot rump roast" or some such.
Glad you like it better (that's reassuring to know). |

Our new favorite midnight snack is mac 'n cheese from a box in the Instant Pot. Only 4 minutes to make.
I really like my Instant Pot. It's like a nuker for me. My next thing to try is Rice a Roni. Sent from my XT1528 |

I've done Rice a Roni. Oh, wait, mine was a Lipton Rice with Sauce package. Anyway -- it works like a charm! Cut the package time in half, usually.

But that beef flavored rice and sauce is one of my favorite packaged foods in the whole world. A pile of that beneath some slices of London Broil -- Mm! I am in carnivore heaven. Never though to try it in the IP. It's 12 minutes in the microwave, so even at half the time, it seems getting up and down from pressure would eat up any savings. |

Ummm. This one may have been on my shelf for an undisclosed period of time.
I did look for them, next time I shopped, and noticed that they were Knorr now. |

Box foods come to pressure quickly. I'd say five minutes+cooking time, no stirring or watching, easy, makes it worth it. How do you clean the bottom of the steel liner? It's getting white marks everywhere. Sent from my XT1528 |

First, a nylon scrubby, then when that doesn't work, a metal scrubby (SOS pad). I suspect the newly "cool" chain mail squares would work well too -- they are sold for cast iron ware. Also, cooking a bit of vinegar in a cup of water (just for cleaning purposes), or a pot of spaghetti sauce from fresh tomatoes, or even a batch of iced tea, will clean it. Till the next usage. So mostly I don't bother.
(Iced tea: ~1 quart of water plus 1 family sized tea bag. Manual 4 minutes high. QR if in a hurry, or a few minutes of NPR. Remove tea bag. Pour over ice, or into another 1.5 quarts of cold water. Frig till cold. Double if you want more; this lasts me 3-4 days, and I want it no older than that.) Last edited by badgoodDeb; 10-05-2017 at 07:29 PM. |
