I agree. Do it. Whoever did it should feel rightfully asinine.

Because people do what they dang well want to, is there any way to lock the mailslot overnight? Or does the mail come before you open the store in the morning?

Or hang a catch box under the mail slot, on the inside of the door?

Absolutely put it up on the store's Facebook page and ask people not to do that anymore!

Maybe try a small collection recepticle underneath the mail slot or something outside the door?

The flourescent lightbulbs propped against the door is just stupid. No one's going to see them before they fall and break! Maybe try a polite sign on the outside of the door to please not leave breakable recycling items when the store is closed?

Because we live in the city center, surrounded by cafés (and, thus, drunk people) a lot of things aren't possible.

We used to have a bag underneath the letterbox, but someone found it funny to thrown some fireworks through the letterbox and it went up in flames. We still occasionally find cigarette butts on the doormat, which have been stubbed out on the door outside. A metal box isn't really an option since there isn't much space between the wall and the door when it's open and there isn't a space outside for a box (plus it wouldn't survive long).

We do lock the letterbox some days of the year (King's Night and Day and the December 31 and January 1), but we get mail before 10am several times a week.

I will put a sign up in the window next to the door when we rearrange the shop window, which should be soon.

My ankle is looking slightly better this morning. I put on my hiking boots, my sturdiest shoes. I did have to unlace my left boot before I could put in on. Moving my ankle left and right isn't a problem, up and down is. Which will mean a fun day going up an down the stairs to where we keep the lightbulbs.

Earlier this year my Nintendo 3DS died. And I'm so totally not interested in the Nintendo Switch, especially not during the last couple of weeks. I'm so not interested in the Switch that I've made a prioritized wishlist of games.

Better. Immobilizing it on Saturday helped, though by closing time, 5pm, the rest of my leg and lower back had seized up. Yesterday and today I didn't have anything planned, so I was able to take it easy. Plus the hot water bottle also worked. Work-wise it will be an easy week, so hopefully by Sunday the worst will be over.

I did post on the store's Facebook page, though I didn't post a photo.

I'm glad to hear that it's better, but I agree with Badgood:

Not as serious as some of the Vents and Rants I've seen, but an annoyance just the same.

At just after 4:00 AM one of our nine interconnected AC-powered smoke detectors began its once-per-minute beeping routine, signalling that it's back-up battery was getting low.

I try to replace them on a schedule, but over the years I've probably had smoke detector batteries die unexpectedly a half dozen times.

I swear, every single one died -- and caused the smoke detector to start it's once-per-minute beeping -- between 2AM and 5AM. How do they do that?!?! There's no "clock" setting! How do they know when everyone (else) is asleep?!

And what's with the stupid once-per-minute beep? I hear a beep, it's not in the room I'm in (another thing that they always seem to know), and I go out into the hall to wait a minute before finding out that it's not the hallway smoke detector. Maybe it's one of the bedroom detectors. That can take a few more minutes -- and beeps -- to track down. Or it's downstairs, or in the basement, and I wait again.

And why just the once-per-minute beeps? There's a green power LED and a red "pulse" LED showing the battery isn't completely dead yet -- just "dead enough" to set off the alert. Why not a yellow LED on each detector to signal which one has a low battery so I can find the culprit without playing "Marco Polo" at all hours in the morning?!?!

Okay. I'm done now.

I am totally with you on that. I loathe the damn things, for the same reason. Worse, due to the high pitch, Mr. Hitch cannot hear the bloody alarms, when they go off. So, I become the official Hearing Ear Dog, going from alarm/room to alarm/room like the Flying Dutchman.

I'm with you on the yellow light. I mean, why the hades NOT?

I replace all the smoke and CO detector batteries on the Sunday in October when the wintertime begins. At home I've never had to hunt for a beeping detector, and I'm glad (we use Duracell Industrial batteries).

I've had it happen once when I was homesitting for friends. It turned out it was the upstairs smoke detector. Which was position above the stairs (standing on a stepladder leaning over a steep stairs is not fun) and the thingy you had to press with a screwdriver to open the thing up was turned away from the landing.

This week was supposed to be a nice and quiet week. I would only have to work a full day on Saturday, the weekdays I was to work only from 10am until 2pm. That was until a supplier delivered his shipment, which was big. Every two weeks he brings it himself and shows us the latest new items he has got and he had some great things, so the big shipment became huge.

Today I'm expecting another big to very big shipment and another shipment, which isn't too big, might also arrive this week. And everything has to be checked, tagged and put away by Saturday because I'm away next week (and my father doesn't get along with the price tag printer).

Yesterday I worked all day. I didn't do anything with the shipment because my father was making the list with prices for me. I wouldn't have been to do anything with it even if I had the list, it was a typical chaotic Tuesday. I expect that I'm working all day today and tomorrow. On Friday I need the afternoon off to get ready for my trip, though I might end up having to go downstairs on Friday or Saturday night to finish up.

I'm hoping to motivate my father in helping. When I check and tag and he puts away items things go so much faster, but he hardly ever helps my out nowadays. I also need to make sure that my hours are registered correctly so I get paid for for my extra time.
