The Ranger is the first in the Quinn Colson series by Ace Atkins, who also does the Nick Travers series and a number of continuation titles in Robert B. Parker's Spenser series. Ranger has dropped to $0.99 at Kindle and Kobo US.

Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/Ranger-Quinn-...dp/B004XFYWTS/
Kobo US: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/the-ranger-5

Spoiler:
Quote:
THE FIRST NOVEL IN ACE ATKINS’ NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING QUINN COLSON SERIES.

“A dark, headlong crime story set in the Mississippi hill country and teeming with corrupt officials, murderous meth dealers and Southern femmes fatales.”—St. Petersburg Times

After years of war, Army Ranger Quinn Colson returns home to the rugged, rough hill country of northeast Mississippi to find his native Tibbehah County overrun with corruption, decay, meth runners, and violence. His uncle, the longtime county sheriff, is dead. A suicide, he’s told, but others—like tomboy deputy Lillie Virgil—whisper murder.

In the days that follow, it’s up to Colson to discover the truth, not only about his uncle, but about his family, his friends, his town, and himself. And once it’s discovered, there’s no going back for this real hero of the Deep South.

Well done Little.Egret - I accept that your link speeds things up nicely!!

But it'd be nice to know, when these repeats come up every few months as Wentworth, Punshon and Thynne do, from anone who DOES benefit from the new link. I always try to acknowledge a new 'freebie' (usually but far from exclusively from Mort1997 ) and would hope others do the same: if not we might all be wasting out time!!

A big batch of Robert Campbell titles, most of the Jimmy Flannery series and a couple of others, has gone on US Kindle Countdown at $0.99, most for about the next 6 1/2 days. Most of these have been on US Countdown before, but a couple were new to me. I read a few of the books in this series back in DTB days, and enjoyed them, although I may have enjoyed their titles even more . Titles on US Countdown are:
  • The 600-Pound Gorilla, Jimmy Flannery #2, 5 1/2 days
  • Hip-Deep in Alligators, Jimmy Flannery #3
  • Thinning the Turkey Herd, Jimmy Flannery #4
  • Nibbled to Death by Ducks, Jimmy Flannery #6
  • The Gift Horse’s Mouth, Jimmy Flannery #7
  • In a Pig’s Eye, Jimmy Flannery #8
  • Sauce for the Goose, Jimmy Flannery #9
  • The Lion’s Share, Jimmy Flannery #10
  • Pigeon Pie, Jimmy Flannery #11
  • Red Cent, Jake Hatch #2
  • Juice, non-series
In addition, the first title in the Jimmy Flannery series, The Junkyard Dog, is a long-term freebie, leaving only the fifth title, The Cat’s Meow, not on sale, at least as of now.

Written in Blood Volume 4 contains Blood Cries, Blood Oath, and Blood Work from the John Jordan series by Michael Lister. It has dropped to $0.99 at Kindle and Kobo US. Some of these titles have been on sale/free before so check carefully before you buy.

Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/Written-Blood...dp/B01N52WIX7/
Kobo US: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/wri...ath-blood-work

Spoiler:
Quote:
Three novels in the critically acclaimed John Jordan series from award winning author and New York Times and USA Today best seller Michael Lister.

Blood Cries

A young John Jordan continues his investigation into the Atlanta Child Murders, interviews Wayne Williams, investigates the disappearance of Cedric Porter, and uncovers a series of murders with devastating consequences.

Experience the events that shaped one of the most unique characters in all of crime fiction. Accompany John during his first spiritual awakenings, his first battles with alcoholism, his first forays and fallings into love, and his first murder investigations.

Blood Oath

John Jordan is once again carrying a gun and a badge—and he’s going to need them. Balancing family life with being a cop and a prison chaplain takes grit and grace—and John has plenty of both. Working two cases that may or may not be connected, John is investigating the disappearance of a young army ranger home on leave and one of the most sadistic serial killers he’s ever encountered.

Blood Work

On the same weekend Janet Leigh Lester was crowned Miss Valentine at the pageant and Queen at the Sweethearts dance, she disappeared, her car found in an empty field, its interior covered in blood.

The case, known as the Broken Heart Murder, is decades cold now, but a new clock is ticking and John Jordan has one last chance to get it right. With no jurisdiction, no support and no real hope of solving such an old, cold case, John is not taking no for an answer in this poignant, touching and tragic mystery.

Also worth noting that the first in this series, Power in the Blood, is a long term freebie, but be careful not to get the special "anniversary" edition, which is not free.
Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/Power-Blood-J...dp/B004GEAMV8/
Kobo US: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/power-in-the-blood-11

And the first in Lister's Jimmy Riley series, The Big Goodbye, is also a freebie.
Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/Big-Goodbye-J...dp/B005890UEY/
Kobo US: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/the-big-goodbye

And finally, there is a note at the bottom of the Kindle blurb that there is a free box set available at michaellister.com; I took a look and a box set of the first three titles in the John Jordan series is available for your email address, if you missed the free box set on Kindle of the first six titles from a while back...

An omnibus of the first three titles in the Inspector Pekkala series by Sam Eastland is available for $4.49 at Kindle US and $4.99 (coupon/VIPable) at Kobo US. Titles are Eye of the Red Tsar, Shadow Pass (apa The Red Coffin), and Archive 17 (apa Siberian Red). SYKM indicates that the second title was a finalist for the 2011 Historical Dagger award. Given that individual titles are over $10, this is a pretty good deal. A couple of the titles have been on sale before though, so check carefully before you buy...

Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/Inspector-Pek...dp/B071G3GV8Q/
Kobo US: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/the...kala-mysteries

Spoiler:
Quote:
The Inspector Pekkala thrillers take place in the treacherous world of Stalin's Russia.

The main character, Inspector Pekkala, was the chief investigator of Tsar Nicholas. Dubber 'The Emerald Eye', his watchful gaze protected the Romanovs from internal and external threats to their security.
When the Bolshevicks seized power and executed the Romanov family, Pekkala was thrown into the gulag.

But when Russia comes under threat from an insurgent Nazi Germany, Stalin brings Pekkala back from his Siberian exile, appointing him the chief investigator of the red Tsar.

As the threat of a Nazi invasion increases, Pekkala finds himself searching for the Romanov's lost gold, investigating the sabotage of Russia's secret weapon, and attempting to rescue the Tsar's amber treasures from Nazi looters.

The Cat's Meow is now on US Kindle Countdown too, at $0.99. It is running about 2 days behind the other titles, and has about 6 1/2 more days to go as of now. Link below is still good.

Just got the first 10 Robert Campbell titles.

I once had some of these in paperback, but never read them.

At 99 cents each, I thought I'd buy these instead of a beer.

Is that bad?

THANK YOU!
