Groove Music and Spotify: FAQ

As of October 2, 2017, we’re excited to announce that we’re partnering with Spotify to bring the world’s largest music streaming service to you. We know that access to the best streaming experience, the largest catalog of music, and a variety of subscriptions are on the top of your list. Now you can move your curated playlists and collection from Groove directly into Spotify. Groove Music Pass users eligible under Spotify’s terms will also be able to receive 60 free days of Spotify Premium (see below for eligibility details).

After December 31, 2017, the Groove Music Pass streaming service will be discontinued. Before then, you’ll be able to use your Groove Music Pass through the end of your subscription. If your Pass subscription goes beyond December 31, 2017, we will give you a prorated refund or a Microsoft gift card (see details below). We’ll continue to update the Groove Music app so you can play and manage the music you’ve purchased and downloaded to your PC or uploaded to OneDrive or another cloud storage service. But the app will no longer stream or play Groove Music Pass content after December 31, 2017.

After December 31, 2017, will I still be able to play music I’ve purchased from the Windows Store?

Open Groove, go to your music collection and select the Purchased filter. Right-click or press and hold on your music files and select download from the menu. The process may be slightly different depending on the device and operating system.

Netflix is raising its prices

Get ready to pay just a bit more for your Netflix subscription.

The streaming video service will be raising prices on its middle and top tier plans in the U.S. starting in November. Subscribers who currently pay for the standard $9.99 service will be charged $10.99. The price of the premium tier will rise from $11.99 to $13.99.

Good news for people on the basic $7.99 plan—that price is staying put, for now.

The U.S.-only price hikes will begin to go into effect in November, varying depending on individuals' billing cycles. Starting on Oct. 19, subscribers will be notified and given at least 30 days notice about the increase.

A buck a month more doesn't sound like much but that's $24 a year more from every user. And Netflix loses more older content every month. Much of the new stuff is garbage they are overpaying for. I have a feeling this will not be last increase we see in the near future. I'm sticking around for now, but we are getting close to the point it just is not worth it.
Edit: $24 would be for top tier not middle tier.
