It can also on occasion mean that the author pulled that book.
Found several like that recently. Now if Amazon pulls a book for copyright or trademark violations, the customer will get a page not found. I also discovered that recently. And HarryT before you ask, I know one was for copyright, she had just grabbed images off the net for her children's book including some Disney and Dr. Suess. The other had titled her book with "Choose your own adventure". Scholastic books has that phrase trademarked. |

In this case, however, given the fact that the book is available in countries such as the UK, it undoubtedly means geo-restrictions.

Also, for the record, if there were any region-based restrictions involved, someone would've confirmed its availability ; I've not heard of any such person yet :\ |

It was written/formatted so badly as to not be readable. The "author" decided to just "borrow" everything in the book from other places. Or they used many trademarks improperly. I know they took down the "69 fun things to do with JELL-O." Some companies get and rightfully so, picky about their trademarks. Now I do own "Joys of Jell-O. " It was put out in 1963 by Jell-O. I have small cookbooks from pretty much every food manufacturer. Side note: One Kraft book has some Breyer's ice cream in it. Yes, Kraft had to get their permission to use their ice cream in the book. |

Another reason titles can appear but are not available is because they were recently withdrawn from sales. I have a book I just withdrew from Amazon sales in the past week or two, but it still appears on their website but with the message that it is not available. So for example, if an author is in the process of releasing a new edition or update, then the older edition might suddenly be pulled. It still shows up at least for a while though no longer available for purchase. I assume that those who already purchased such a book would still be able to re-download it though.

It is available for purchase on the Australian Amazon site. And with one-click. I also understand Harry as saying it is available for purchase in the UK.

Actually, even though they are the same title (almost), they're not exactly same in their content (the one that you pointed is the has 32 pages less than the original.) That is, the "international" edition. The one I have a paper copy of, though, is the "originial", non-international edition; this is a really _heavy_ tome (1200 pages or so) and I found it more fit to read it as an ebook; and all my raging on havin the ebook for this very version (rather than the available, international edition I get referr'd to) is because they are not the same in their content arrangement (especially, page numbering), which would make it hard (very hard, if not impossible) for me to move along with my instructors as they refer us to, e.g, "assignments given on page 12", or "the theorem on page 120", etc. tl;dr: https://www.amazon.com/Discrete-Time.../dp/B008VIXQSQ and https://www.amazon.com/Discrete-Time.../dp/B00IZ0LJHU are same titles, BUT with different content arrangements; the former is the only one usable for me, because I have a verbatim paper copy of it,and it is too heavy to carry , and it is what our instructors use. Their bahaviour is very frustrating; at least, they could give a more descriptive message than "this title is not currently available for purchase." Often that's literally all they know. A publisher doesn't generally tell the reseller why they're withdrawing a title from sale.

I usually will use Chrome to open the free kindle ebooks to purchase the books. For these past 2 weeks i have been having problems with certain ebooks when i open with chrome. The ebooks are opened from readingdeals.com. I have no problems with other book free sites. i can only open these ebooks using Firefox only. I tried opening with Internet Explorer but it gives me the same problem too. |

I don't have an answer to the poster's issue, but it's worth remembering that sometimes people find us by googling their problem and hitting an older post. Or in other words, if you can't help, it would be better to say nothing than to criticize a first-time poster for poor form.
