Bargain @ $2.99 from Simon & Schuster's Saga Press imprint in Canada & US (linkage goes to Kobo; should be the same price in all the usual stores):

The Unreal and the Real: The Selected Short Stories of Ursula K. Le Guin, containing 39 stories specially chosen by the author from a lifetime of work, with a new introduction to the lot. (For comparison purposes, the novellas collection also out from Saga Press is currently $8.99.)

A collection of short stories by the legendary and iconic Ursula K. Le Guin—selected by the author, and combined in one volume for the first time.

The Unreal and the Real is a collection of some of Ursula K. Le Guin’s best short stories. She has won multiple prizes and accolades from the Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters to the Newbery Honor, the Nebula, Hugo, World Fantasy, and PEN/Malamud Awards. She has had her work collected over the years, but this is the first short story volume combining a full range of her work.

X-link to the DRM-free thread for a new StoryBundle:

The Truly Epic Fantasy Bundle curated by Kevin J. Anderson contains titles from his WordFire Press imprint, including at least 3 backlist reprints from Michael A. Stackpole and R. A. Salvatore, a collection of short stories continuing Salvatore's Demon Wars setting whose novels were originally out from Del Rey (and we've gotten a Humble Audiobook Bundle offering for them in the past), and a novella which ties into Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere series which IIRC is currently published by Tor.

Hahaha! Made almost half a page through a friend's copy before I couldn't stomach that one any further.

As a devoted pulp fiction reader, I have a high tolerance for dreck, but after about 3 pages, my hands started to shake and I developed a facial tic and had to quit.

Sorry to those who loved it, but reading soft core porn should be a happy experience.

I was fighting my way through a dank castle to save a lovely princess when my wizard informed me that Amazon.com had Robert Silverberg's Gilgamesh the King for $1.99. Having no cell service in this magical land and not wanting to miss out, I fled for the magic portal and returned home. If the princess can't be bothered to save herself, she doesn't deserve saving. I'll just retire to my easy chair and turn on my Kindle.

This proves my argument in favor of central air and heat in any type of housing environment.

All three books in the Hal Bishop Mysteries by Elizabeth O'Connell are free on Amazon right now (https://smile.amazon.com/Hal-Bishop-...456545&sr=1-12). I've read all three and enjoyed them quite a bit. These are more fantasy than mystery as they take place in a version of Victorian England where the industrial revolution has been driven more by magic than by steam. The two main characters are brothers who lost their father to a mysterious death following a period of just as mysterious madness. The brothers end up investigating dark magic and curses that have been put on other families in their search to discover what happened to their father. I highly recommend checking them out, especially at this price.
