Yeah, during the weather report on the news I had a flashback to the night before Sandy hit us.
Good luck, guys! |

Yesterday was warm (27C), but during the day it wasn't humid, so it was doable. Today promises to be another hot day. Temperatures will rise to 29-30C and there won't be much wind. During the night it'll "cool" down to about 18C.
Luckily it will be the last hot day, at least for a while. From tomorrow temperatures won't go much higher than 20C, unfortunately it will also rain. |

Had two friends rescued by boat in Houston. A lady in our book Club, she and her husband were also rescued. I'm still waiting to hear back from two more friends who said water was near their door. What a day it's been.
I never thought my preparation skills would come in handy but I was able to walk my friend through the steps so here's hoping the house isn't flooded too bad. Here it was cool today. Sent from my XT1528 |

I hope you told her to get her medication. Did you tell her to grab some food? According to the city of Corpus Christi, they told residents that had no escape methods to bring 3 to 4 days of supplies to the nearest bus stop. |

I'll give a few tips not going to write everything. You don't know how high the water will get if your are lucky it won't cover the roof and only be a few feet. Store everything that is irreplaceable in your attic or the highest point you can. plastic totes are best. There's no time to worry about stuff like furniture, TV's, clothes usually. Get all important documents together including your insurance policy. Put them in plastic and stick them in your purse. Put your medicine in your purse as well. Program all emergency numbers being given for that disaster into your cellphone. Most times 911 is busy so alternative numbers are needed when you call for help. This can save your life. Do not EVER get in your attic to wait to be rescued. Get on the roof and call for help on your cell. If there is time and it's safe. Throw the main breaker on your house before evacuating. You can pack a bag but be prepared to leave it behind so make sure all important stuff you need is in your purse. Sent from my XT1528 |

Great tips. I live in a flood plain. If my house gets water in it, I wouldn't have time to move anything up.
We were thinking two different things. You were talking rescue after the flood. I was thinking about the people that were evacuated before the flood. |

One night we stood and watched it go from 2 inches to 14 inches in under 3 minutes. With surges when people would decide they needed to drive down the street. Wait I want to see something. Just measured at street level, it was an additional foot or more. This is when it rains. Last edited by Cinisajoy; 08-30-2017 at 01:10 PM. |
