Greetings from El Paso, Texas!

I'm CRoss, located in El Paso, Texas by way of Salt Lake City, Utah and Washington, DC. My family is moving to Seoul, South Korea this summer (military move) and as a result my husband decided I needed a Kindle to avoid exorbitant shipping costs for all the books I'll be buying while we're there.

I teach high school English (Juniors, Seniors, and AP Lit) and have an 18 month old son, so my reading covers a wide range of genres.

Glad to have found this forum and looking forward to getting to know you all as I get acquainted with my Kindle!

Welcome to MobileRead, Cross, and enjoy. You can download a users guide while you are waiting...Lots of books here to download for free, also. You'll want the mobi/prc format.

Don't thank me, thank the husband. He signed up over a decade ago and still owes back 11 years for all the schooling the military has paid for. No complaints from me since they've saved us close to $500,000 in tuition costs alone, but it does mean moving a lot.

Thanks again for the warm welcome!

Hi CRoss and welcome to the Forum. BTW, they do have PX's in Korea that sell print books but don't mention that to your husband till after you get the Kindle.

And be sure and let us know how you like it when you do get it.

Hello CRoss -- welcome to MobileRead. As a Kindle owner (and a Sony owner), I can testify to the convenience of having an eBook reader when you're traveling. When you have a mobile life-style with frequent moves, it's going to be a lot easier to throw your Kindle, a laptop, and a USB hard-drive into your carry-on bags than it's going to be to pack and ship hundreds (or thousands) of paper books.

Since you're a teacher of literature, you will want to take a look at the marvelous classics available for download right here at MobileRead. There's no need to buy any of them from Amazon -- even if they're only $1 or less -- since the quality of the formatting here is of the highest caliber.

If you have time while you're sorting out the details of moving, think about coming to the Texas Meet-up being planned for the DFW area in April. RalphSirEdward is organizing, so check with him for details.
