I was going by my own experiences. Sometimes it takes 2 days for my system to completely purge.

Mom calls me at 11:30pm to complain about numerous things. I'm half asleep and so I told her goodnight. She was upset about it but it's 11:30 at night. I can't scream into phone because she can't hear me. She only calls to complain anyway. Never asks about how I'm doing other than did you eat.

I only picked up because it's so late I thought something happened.

Looking for a good thermos bottle.

When I go to the UK by boat later this year I know my hut doesn't have an electrical kettle. However, I do like to drink tea in the evening and food and drink are overpriced on board. I thought about getting a small electric kettle. But I realized that I won't be using it very much, since I've yet to go to a hotel where there isn't a kettle in the room or free hot water from a machine in the lobby available.

I do have a thermos mug, but it won't keep my water hot long enough and I don't trust it not too leak when carrying it around half a day. So, I'm now looking for a good thermos bottle. The one by Stanley seems most promising. I've you pre-warm the bottle, the one holding 1 liter keeps it's contents hot for 24 hours.

Stanleys are great. We own a few. Hot for 24, and even after that still warm. I can test one if you like.

Interesting you have hot water machines and our motels provide free ice.

There was one hotel I visited in Antwerp which didn't have an electric kettle in the room, but downstairs was a nook where there was one of those machines for coffee, tea, hot chocolate and hot water, it was free for guests. They also put the leftover fruit, bread roll and croissants there for guests to help themselves to.

All other hotels I've visited had an electric kettle, tea, instant coffee, sugar and powdered milk in the room. One hotel in London had a little shelf for the tea/coffee set, with a power point beneath it. However, the cable of the kettle was too short too reach it!

I have yet to go to a hotel which offers ice, but it might be available in hotel in warmer climates, such as Spain or Italy. I prefer to visit cooler places.

Motels here usually have either small coffee pots in the room or coffee downstairs in the lobby. Some motels offer the breakfasts like you mentioned and others have full breakfasts with coffee, teas, juice, waffles (make your own), eggs, a meat, sometimes gravy and numerous breads and pastries.

You need to come visit the southern US in winter. Late January-early February is best. You are rather a northerner. I think our summer heat would devastate you. Blossom accidentally got some of our summer heat and it about killed her. She is only 936 miles northeast of me.

Most hotels, including the one I mentioned, offer a breakfast buffet with breads, croissants (sometimes pastry), fruit, meat, cheese, sweet things, yogurt and cereals. In the hotels in the UK also offer ingredients for a full English breakfast; baked beans, sausages and other things I don't want to even want to think about in the morning. This hotel offered the leftovers of the breakfast for the guests, even for those who hadn't paid for a breakfast, instead of throwing them away.

My preferred weather is around 20C, a light breeze and sunny. The biggest problem in the Netherlands is that when temperatures rise it usually gets humid. Two years ago I went to Krakow and we had a really hot day of 30C+, but it wasn't humid. It got a bit much if you stayed in the sun too long, but if you sat down with a cool drink or ice cream you could continue with whatever you were doing within 10 minutes.

I did my final teacher placement in Sicily for 5 weeks in November and December. When we got there is was 20 to 25C and when we left 15 to 20C. I think my friend and I were the only ones going outside without a coat in December. We stayed with my friend's aunt and she told us that in her lifetime it had only snowed once in Sicily (last year it snowed again).

Make that late Oct to Mid November or Jan-February. 20C is a great temp. Not to hot and not to cold.

I just got our electric bill for July. 734kwh used it's about $109 all together. All that conserving energy during the hell wave worked! It kept the bill from skyrocketing even with the increased rates.

I just made an appointment to see if I can go back to wearing contact lenses. A couple of years ago I got a recurring eye infection and wearing contact lenses only made it worse. So I stopped wearing them. I don't mind wearing glasses, but there are times when contacts are more practical. I haven't had an eye infection in almost a year, so I hope I can start wearing contacts again. I want to start with contacts you can wear for a day, as opposed as the monthly ones I had before. Hopefully the contact lens specialist agrees with me on Tuesday.

Watching hubby take apart a tv that looks more like a computer/video game/oversize ereader or tablet than an old fashioned tv.

I made my contact lens appointment at 7.25pm. At 11.45pm I get an email reminding me of the appointment. I could have understand it if it was send after midnight, that would have been the day before the appointment, though I would have send a reminder the afternoon or evening before the appointment.

Now I'm trying to decide what type of hotel room to book. Will I take the simple one, with a small fridge, a microwave and an electric kettle. Or pay €100 more for a room with a kitchenette (with cooker, toaster and breakfast bar), a bigger room, a sofa and bigger tv.

I woke up with pink eye yesterday. I haven't been anywhere to catch pink eye. Ugh! My eye is swollen, itchy and hurts.
