Charge Auro One without turning on

I don't have a sleep cover for my Aura One. I didn't want to add any extra weight or thickness, so I went with a sleeve. I'm wondering if a "charge only" cable would help. I found this, but they seem to be far and few in between.

I'd suspect that it shorts the two data lines since is what the USB battery charging spec. 1.2 says to use for a dedicated charging port. It is fairly common technique which should work for you.

Nope. It's a USB wall adapter that in no way tricks my Glo HD, or ANY device, into thinking it's plugged into a computer. The Glo HD is capable of knowing the difference.

How can a computer be "a little out of spec"? What does that even mean?

"a little out of spec" means the device doesn't quite meet whatever specification it is supposed to meet. And it happens. A common situation would be that it is right at one end the range of allowed values and then degrades a little over time. Or some manufacturer was cheap and didn't get caught.

Again... the wall plug in NO WAY tricks the Glo HD, or ANY device, into thinking it's plugged into a computer. In what way is a USB wall charger "pretending" to be a computer?


The Glo HD is also running the most recent firmware. It isn't fooled by a wall plug.

What is your definition of "dim and distant"?

Here, it usually means long enough ago that I don't remember exactly which firmware version it was. My Touch definitely did it when running the 1.19.x firmware. I'm pretty sure the Glo did it when I first got it and that was 2.1. I think it changed before 3.0, but I'm not sure. And that means more than three years ago.

People complained that their devices were being recognized by, and automatically connecting to their computers? I don't believe that.

Well, your complaining about one behaviour, why aren't you surprised that people thought the opposite? But, specifically, people wanted to plug the device into a computer and have it charge while they kept reading. Yes, they could have use a wall-plug, but a you have already explained why they didn't.
