Lock / unlock didn't help, neither did power off / power on sequences.

My (very old) Samsung Galaxy Tab has some sort of weird problem that the touch is all haywire when the tablet is connected to the charger. This is only in one location (kitchen table) tough; when I use the tablet somewhere else when connected to the charger (bed, or couch), it works just fine.

I dislike people who write entire articles about stuff they know too little about.
I was reading an audio/music-related website, and clicked on their link handling lossless formats. One of the headings says: "Why you should never, ever convert from lossy to lossless formats" Then, an A4 of reasons why you shouldn't follows, stating two obvious points: - The FLAC/lossless file will be much bigger than the lossy/mp3 (around 5x the size). - The quality will not improve; it will be exactly the same as the lossy file. So, the advice is to "never, ever" do that conversion, because of the extra drive space it takes. However, they forget one very important point. When using MP3 or other lossless formats, and you have to convert to something else in another 20 years, you will still end up with a lossless format anyway, otherwise you'd be losing quality because of going from lossless to lossless. So, if you convert any lossless files to FLAC, you'll be 20 years ahead of your time, and you can switch to any lossless format you care to. |

WTF... spelling correction on the phone has changed "lossy" to "lossless" in most places
![]() What I meant to say was (correction in bold): "When using MP3 or other lossy formats, and you have to convert to something else in another 20 years, you will still end up with a lossless format anyway. Otherwise, you'd be losing quality because of going from lossy to lossy. So, if you convert any lossy files to FLAC now, you'll be 20 years ahead of your time, and you can switch to any lossless format you care to." Rant: I'm going to disable spelling check on my phone as well. It actually makes people stupid with regard to writing Dutch. Did I ever rant about the "English Disease" in Dutch? Using spaces where there shouldn't be any in Dutch, as if writing English, that is. Like this: English: computer screen Dutch: computerscherm (NOT computer scherm) If I type a word on my phone which it doesn't know, it automatically replaces it with the closest equivalent. So, if it didn't know "computerscherm", it would replace it with "computer scherm", making people think the latter is the correct spelling, which it is NOT. Using spaces even leads to different meanings sometimes. Let's use the Dutch word for an "old cheese factory": oude kaas fabriek: WRONG oude kaasfabriek: An old factory that makes cheese oudekaasfabriek: A factory that makes old cheese Or the word for "long distance runner": lange afstands loper: WRONG lange afstandsloper: A tall runner running distances of some unspecified length lange-afstandsloper: A runner who runs long distances. (This can be written without the dash, but when two vowels follow one another, the dash is often used for clearness.) Some people are even going as far as to split up words that aren't even split up in English... English: keyboard Dutch: toetsenbord ???: toetsen bord This, and the D/T spelling mistakes (many people just guess with that one) are my single biggest pet peeves with regard to spelling in Dutch. Some D/T examples: Er gebeurt iets. (Something is happening.) Er is iets gebeurd. (Something has happened.) Ik zwem graag. (I like to swim.) Hij zwemt graag. (He likes to swim.) Ik houd van jou. (I love you.) Hij houdt van jou. (He loves you.) Some people just guess. They sometimes even write "Hij hout van jou" ("He wood you..."), or write some crap such as "gebeurdt" which isn't even possible. Last edited by Katsunami; 08-06-2017 at 09:23 PM. |

I hate the last day of house sitting. The packing, deciding what I really need and what I don't need. My dad's going to pick up my stuff in the early afternoon, which can mean anywhere between 11am and 4pm.
Plus there's the uncertainty of if they are coming back tomorrow, or if they'll take a bit longer. With a bit of luck I should know tonight. When I've packed and everything is downstairs I can clean upstairs. Let's see if I can do everything within two hours, then I can read and watch Netflix (because one of the thing I really need to keep is my Chromecast). |

The narcissistic obsession with broadcasting every minute of your life to total strangers; putting up immature (at best) or blackmail-worthy (at worst) images of yourself doing stupid things; the crazy behavior about self-made, worthless "celebutwits" (edited to be family friendly) like the Kardashians, who've contributed absolutely nothing to the world, whatsoever; putting pictures of your made-up face on Instagram...if you spend your entire day filming stupid stunts to get Youtube hits/followers, or putting on bondo to try to look like a #WorthlessKardashian, how the hell can you possibly have a moment to actually learn anything of any value? Other than the inestimable value of concealer and contouring, or course, or how to land without breaking your ulna. Seriously, it's mind-boggling to me. Is it too naive of me to think that people should be curious about the world? The advent of the Net seems to have made people more self-centered, not less. SUCH a disappointing result and waste.
