"The Painted Queen" by Elizabeth Peters
Not a "bargain", by any means, but many of us will be pleased to know that the long-awaited posthumous book in the "Amelia Peabody" series by Elizabeth Peters has now been released. I very, very rarely buy ebooks at hardback prices, but this is one of the few times I'll do so.

The book was completed by Joan Hess (whoever she may be!) following the death of Elizabeth Peters.

Actually, she no longer lives in Arkansas, unless she just recently moved back.

I met her, by the way, back in the late 70s (or early 80s), when her first or second mystery came out. She gave me an inscribed copy of one of her Romance novels. I read it, but I don't remember the plot.

I've added it to my watch list, but since I have many of the earlier books in the series still to read, I can wait for the price to fall.

I got it when it came out, and have now read it, so I suggest you read the reviews before adding it to a must buy list. To me, it did not read like an Elizabeth Peters - it read more like a Maggody story.

That's why I'm going the library route first. Will be awhile, 25 people waiting on 2 copies so far....
