For my "poweroff_info.html". The Poweroff.png is 1040x1387 bit depth 32, its 361KB.
Works fine.

The image was created using Gimp2 to fit the full screen.

Tested your HTML code with your image. It works with the poff test script, but when i press the Power off, nothing happens. By nothing happens i mean, that the device turned off, but still showed the menu, like if it was on. May be the KA1 is slower because of its higher resolution and can't load it fast enough as Tshering said.

EDIT:
The Culprit seems to be the resolution of the image. It showed correctly 124kb 503 x 671 image, but not the same image upscaled to 1404 x 1872, even with smaller size of 121kb

Ack! There was no problem; I was being stupid. So let me use this post to thank the wizard Tshering for creating KSM; my Kobo would be much less useful and less used without it.

I am glad the problem vanished by itself. Thank you for mentioning!

For my Kobo Aura One

I had the same issue where it works with the poff test script but when I press power off it all turns off but the screen doesn't change.
Using gimp to change the image size to 503x671 worked and then in the power off html i had to set the width="1404" and height="1872" WITHOUT putting px on the end which is what was causing me issues.

Any ideas why full resolution images aren't working?
Thanks!

I thought that by size you meant the amount of data not the resolution. I don't see the reason, why it couldn't load high res. image of the same or smaller size the low res. image has, when it reloads all pixels anyway, when turned off.

Yup yup, that's the one I'm questioning.
The poweroff view is a qt web view which (I'm assuming) isn't hardware accelerated. So I find it hard to believe that loading a 16.6kb (1404x1872, all white jpg) image without scaling is slower than loading a 44.1kb (503x671 gray scale picture) that needs to be scaled just over 275%. Now to be fair I don't know the internals or the build but it sure seems like there may be something else going on.
(To clarify the 1404x1872 all white image fails to load but the other 503x671 image works fine.)

Is there an error log in the koreader folder?

Is installing a rather recent version of koreader one of those things? You can find recent versions here and here.

Now that all this has been going on for the previous current firmware, will Start Menu 08 work with the new 4.5.9587 firmware?

Either no KSM user installed 4.5.9587, or nobody cares answering this question.

KSM uses the drivers that are provided in the pbchess package. It seems that the touch driver needs to be updated for the H2O edition 2. You can find a relevant thread here.
