While I totally agree with you. It's not so simple to change doctors as my sister is a special case due to her many many health issues and operations. This doctor is with the University hospital.

I hope when she sees my sister she moves immediately into action but she better not mess with medicines the hospital has her on. They are working. Her blood pressure is normal. She needs therapy. She acts out at times out of frustration no doubt she is feeling. Therapy would help her so much.

I once had a urgent care doctor tells me I had rocks in my inner ear and that was causing vertigo. I trust them about as far as I can throw them. My vertigo turn out to be a sinus infection. No rocks.

When I told my real doctor about the rocks. She looked at me like I was from another planet. Declared it to be a sinus infection, gave me meds and a week later I was well again.

I don't know if it helps, given that every person is different, but my 76-year-old Dad had multiple "brain bleeds" in March - 2 surgeries to cut open his head and drain the fluid putting pressure on his brain. Took them 3 weeks to officially call it a stroke.

After 3 weeks, he could say 3 words/phrases - and one of them was "I want to die". They put him in ... gak, I can't remember the term....not a nursing home, but not the hospital any more. He was combative with the staff and told them he wanted to be sent to Hospice to die. (Not sure how he managed that, but that's what they told my brother).

He got physical therapy, speech therapy, and a third type (although the third one was a single visit and they said he didn't need them - maybe the folks who re-teach people how to shower and tie their shoes).

Today he's talking, has most of the mobility back in his right side, and is grumbling that he can't drive yet.

Everyone kept telling me that people do much better after strokes than they did before (his father was disabled by a stroke about 30 years ago - couldn't take care of himself, couldn't communicate).

So here's to hoping your sister does equally well and equally quickly.

Fizzy, that'd be occupational therapy. My mom went thru all that therapy stuff many years back when she had a brain bleed.

My wife was an OT. I do technology, she does the squishy stuff.

That's it! I'm turning into that person who does the "...what's the word I want?!" thing all the time!

As family members, we had a lot of difficulties with the hospital when Dad was there, but I have to say he has nothing but praise for the therapists that are helping him get his life back.

He fully plans to be bowling by fall.

This is why she needs to be in therapy because I do know it will help her. After the first stroke she could talk but her mouth muscles were weak. She missed a word here or there but now after the second she pretty much says okay and alright and some broken words. No trouble with numbers though.

She's at home waiting to be seen in September.

Benign positional vertigo is usually caused by little bone-like bits of calcium loose in the ear. It's not unreasonable to refer to hard mineral bits as 'rocks.'

Fire at Hubby's work. The factory caught fire and they sent everyone home. It was on the news. Machine caught fire and it spread to the ventilation system. The video I saw showed flames coming off the roof.

Why us? Why his work? He's only a temp but he likes this job even if it only pays $350 a week. It was something he could do without hurting himself. I just hope this doesn't jeopardize anything.
